Noticed there were a few 2 wheelers on here too. So following on from owning Omega's no doubt you all own fully kitted goldwings!
So what is your ride of choice?
I'm on a BMW Boxercup, 1100cc, Randy Mamola replika.
1 of 500 worldwide.

I`ve owned quite a few bikes over the years mainly for despatch riding they ranged from a kawa AR125 all the way upto cx500`s and gt750`s and the pick of the bunch was a Bmw k100 ex police bike.... :y
-
I ride* an old ZX10 (not the newer mental ZX10R). Good, cheap, fast enough, scary.
* If you can call sliding down the road after it 'riding'
-
last bike was just for fun....GSXR600 (restricted)....before that TDM850 before that XT600E (good for fen roads in winter)...previous too that DR650and before that Z250...
Not going too mention my first bike...Honda CM125 Custom. ;D

Cbr600 at the moment although it looks like I may well have to sell it in the very near future. :'(
There is a chance if things go as well as planned in September that I may be able to buy an R1,wanted one for a long time.

FJ1200 thats coming up for 19 years young.
Still goes like the clappers though with enough torque to pull up a mountain.... ;)
Out spying for a nice Blackbird at the moment, however, to replace it with. Dunno if that will be a good thing or a bad, to be honest...... :-/
-
Blackbird is a cracking piece of machinary I really fancy one meself ,but nowhere to keep it :y :y
-
Yamaha FJ 1200 .....1991 ....on a H plate.....also Yamaha Thunderace 1000....and used to own a Kawasaki GPZ 750 turbo.....from 1984 on a B plate.
Let's all hope that it's going to be a long hot summer. :y :y :y

I've had many over the years, started on Lambretta's and Vespa's in the late 70's early 80's and my last bike was a mint RD 400 but I sold that about 3 years ago. I was looking at the old GPZ 900R just before Christmas but it will have to wait a while :(

Just call in the local nick and hand your licence in when you are on your way to collect it,save all the hassle of having to do it soon after. ;) :)

All this has set me wondering what happened to my first (and only) machine.
'Twas a modest, but mint Honda CB175.
However the pleasures of the flesh, reclining seats and four wheels changed all that - hmmmmm!

I remember when they were fast and owners wondered why a 100cc Suzuki beat them at the TLGPs ;D

Had a Blackbird, a tuned one. Didn't half shift. 161hp at the wheel!
Cracking tourer but if you like to push the boundaries it has it's limitations. The fairing lower will grind out if you chuck it into a corner hard. A bigger problem is the linked brakes. The rear will lift and subsequently lock, if you're on hard, not usually a problem if you let it trail the spinning front but as both are on but pretty disconcerting nonetheless. Saying that, you need to be hard on from 150+, i've only had the problem on trackdays.
Mine before

And after :'(

-
I have a tricked up VTR1000. Great bike only problem is that it eats rear tyres and gets me noticed too often. ;D

TBH, calling any biker a Goldwing rider (other than a Goldwing rider) is an insult.
Suzuki TS185
Suzuki X7
Honda CBR400F
Suzuki Bandit 600
Suzuki Bandit 1200
Yamaha YZF1000 Thunderace
Yamaha FZS1000
Honda VFR750-FL

That has got to be the ugliest bike the big H have ever made ;) ;)cracking engine, but god did fall from ugly tree ;D ;D ;D

Hmm..an aquired taste possibly, but yep, what a motor.
It's a lump of a bike but surprisingly nimble. Played merry hell with my mates on their R1's and Blades.
Time after time they'd be convinced they'd have me as we would enter a bend, seeing as it's such a lumpy old thing, but once at the apex it was just a case of nailing the throttle open and it was gone.
Real grin factor with that one :y

cb125 vandelised
Dt125mx seized (shed tbh)
Kdx125 stolen
Cbr600 telegraph pole pulled out
Zx6 car pulled out sold
Firestorm(rubbish, really was)
Vfr750 hired for ages, felt like i owned it
Zx9 van(van writen off) pulled out,car pulled out, right off.
Cbr600 track bike (took the hint)sold
Gsxr1000(rubbish)track bike, sold
Cbr1000rr blade. track bike, now your talking.
Want the new blade, ugly face and all.
Would rather a zx12 than blackbird in that category if i ever get back on the road/grow up, so not likely.

Ok, not a cutting edge sports bike, but I wouldn't say it was rubbish. I've only had the odd run on one but I found it a very "user friendly" forgiving bike, just not a hyper sports bike jobbie.

Trouble was it was hyped as a rival to the Ducati 916, so only going to be a flop in that company.
Swing arm/frame design could not cope, twisted the swing arm spacers round due to flex, meaning it would nip up, seize in effect. Then they did it proper with the sp1 and 2 iirc?
-
Fair point. Don't remember the promo hype. True, both the SP1/2 are different animals. Having a V twin engine, the letters VTR in the name and two wheels is as far as the similarities go, but it's not that bad. I suppose it's what I'd call a "nice" bike.
-
Seem to remember the japs in a strop with Ducati winning world supers all the time with an "unfair advantage" in capacity. So japs thought they would try the twins as well. Remember the TL1000 and the following S model? Honda came closest. When they had the same unfair advantage they STILL couldnt beat Ducati. The storm, TL and following S model where all part of that Japanese sulk iirc. Soon went back to the 4 cylinders, and they are still moaning about vtwin engine size now. Sad!
Still, ya pays ya money, ya takes ya choice, as they say. :-)

Colin Edwards actually won the WSB championship on the Honda v twin, they had to get Haga(a riding god imo)disqaulified in order to do it though,so it left a very sour taste with the fans. :y

I have to confess that I do own a Goldwing! A 1987 GL1200IH that I have had for 20 years. Having toured Europe on just about every kind of bike you can imagine I bought the Wing 20 years ago to be able to tour in comfort. If you are into serious touring there realy is no better bike.

Ah yes, that time of year again. Milder weather, the smell of spring and the first round of wsb this weekend. Starting to get the itch, dont worry it will be snowing and floods in a fortnight. :-)

Been riding mine to and from work this week.you forget how much fun it is when you havent ridden much for a few months.
I had almost decided to sell mine but I think I will probably keep it until I can afford an R1. :)
