Title: its that time of year!
Post by: unlucky alf on 02 March 2009, 10:03:51
today AT 11-00 i will be pacing up & down like an expectant father as the old bus gets its 12 monthly medical [MOT], ive given it the once over & have changed a steering idler but as most of you know they always find something [bushes, brake pipes,[wont mention air freshener ;) etc] so i look forward to some unscheduled work later on instead of having an afternoons fishing :'(

oh well ive just got back & all was well until the brake result came through from the powers that be, failed on handbrake by a poxy 1% >:(, i did drive it along with the handbrake up for 200yards or so but obviously not enough, so its off with the rear discs tomorrow for a good clean up, right time to go & get 2 pints of maggots & down to the river for some chub & barbel bashing thatll cheer me up :y oh on the plus side he commented on the large breasts on the girlie air freshener i have but agreed they werent big enough to obstruct my vision ;D

thats a bugger, still an excellent guide on adjusting ;)

I Mark replaced my shoes (along with disks and pads) at the weekend, were shot.

I was lucky with MOT, tightened it up, and retested, they passed it saying it will bed in  ;D
Gave me a bit more time to sort it properly  :y

the thing is jimbob the MOT guy said if it was up to him he would have passed it but its now on a database thing regarding brake efficiancy, he was all ready to pass it when it came up fail on his p,c & he was very apologetic, the only other thing was advice on corroded fuel lines which apparently i have to get from vx due to them being clip in ends, can anyone confirm this?? :y

oh well handbrake all sorted now, had a job getting o/s rear disc off but the n/side just fell off >:(, the o/side one was badly scored so ended up buying 2 new discs, luckily the shoes were o,k after a rub down with production paper, mind you i got soaking wet & bl00dy cold, the wind blew my bacon sarnie & plate off the top of the wheelie bin so bang went lunch :'(, smashed the plate as well so the mrs aint happy, but on the plus side my old tractor is now MOT`D with just the fuel lines to do on the advice :y :y YIPEEEEE ;D

Just run standard plastic fuel lines using short lengths of braided rubber ones and jubille clips to mate onto the old one (cut the plastic fast-on type clips off!)
