Title: Problem with my cordless drill

The trigger gets very hot in a very short period of time on my Makita cordless drill & the drill fails to work. The battery holds its charge ok & the brushes seem to have plenty of life left. Could the trigger be faulty? Any ideas as to what's up or should i bin it?

ive got 4, i just replace the whole lot when something happens. i have a good 14volt dewalt drill with no batteries and no charger if you want it or anyone else wants it. also a 18volt metabo with no charger and a makita chop saw i stuck in the loft and have not bothered repairing

CD pete, take it to bits & see if there is a capacitor [i think it is] by the trigger, could be that thats gone fubar ;) failing that the trigger itself :(

Was trying to get round to replying to you Pete but, been to busy!

Anyway, the trigger assembly houses the speed controller so that points to 2 possibles.

1) A short on the motor and or associated wiring.

2) A fault speed controller.

Pop it round if you want and I will give it the once over
