It's a fix, and emphasis's the injustice of the sentences being given out by the courts! >:( >:( >:(

As I stated in my thread on 'Justice' you can get three years for throwing shoes at an American President, but effectively just over three years ( 7, but automatically reduced to less than 3.5 years) for killing two children in this world! :o :o :o :o :o

Bloody absurd and makes one very angry! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

It doesn't say so in that link,  but the texts were sent about 10 mins before the crash ....... not that I'd want to defend the bloke.
It'd be a bit like charging you with speeding too from earlier on in your journey .... thinking about it, they do! Speed cameras already do that!  :-X

Come on mate .. you know the rules .. never let the truth get in the way of a good story ... he texted then killed a man .. must be linked because the press "forgot" the time differential.

If they had told the whole story .. there wouldn't be a story would there ??? and folks coudn't get all wound up about his peerage.

Quote
Before the collision with Lord Ahmed, Mr Gombar, who was Slovakian, had crashed into the central reservation, leaving his Audi facing the wrong way in the third lane of the motorway.

Lady Justice Hallett said there was "little or nothing" Lord Ahmed could have done to avoid the collision.

She said he had never been accused of, or admitted, causing death by dangerous driving.

Would that sell papers on its own ?? Doubt it .. but the thread title shows that some folks have believed the papers .....

"Power of the press" or downright bad (dishonest) reporting .. you choose .. :(

I think he did actually kill the poor guy, but the texting had nowt to do with it .... it was the fact the guy had just crashed in front of him.. :(

I agree with what you say, just that I believed that the guy he hit was already dead. Does not change the fact that he should not have been texting, had he not been he may have seen the care and avoided it.

Thats the whole point .. the texting was 10 minutes before the crash .. absolutely no link ... except in the press.

So next time you have a crash you want to be held accountable because you changed a CD 10 minutes before hand ???

Surely if the texts were sent 10 minutes before the accident he could have sent them before joining the motorway, stationary in a layby for instance, but as you say that wouldn't sell papers would it.

He spent a long period of time texting while driving on the motorway.
He SENT his last text 10 mins before the crash, wether he was composing another when he had the accident I dont think anyone but him knows, but he was driving dangerously and killed someone.
He got a ridiculously light sentence for his crime, and now to add further insult he has been let out.Imo it is very much a case of one law for them.......
Cant begin to imagine how the family of the person he killed feels tonight. >:( >:(

How do you know he was'nt tryping out annother text.  Proof can only be confirmed by the send and recieve logs.  Not the creating of them.

Click, click and clear screen.

Non of us will ever know the real truth, nor the Police and certainly not the Papers.

He wasn't the first to hit the piss head, and the piss head would have survived if he didn't go back to the car to get his phone.

The NuLord was involved in what is a secondary accident. Not defending just saying.

Pisshead would not have crashed if he had been sober.

2 seperate things, texting (which is bloody stupid) and a secondary accident

Being in a position of authority myself I can tell you that higher than normal levels of scrutiny are placed on your actions.  One is expected to adhere not just to the law but be whiter than white.  For example if an Army Officer is caught drink-driving he is expected to resign (practically forced) for soldiers they can be kicked out but most often just get severe administrative sanctions against them instead.  Hence the higher standards required of those in positions of authority.

Should he have been freed? Regardless of the nature of the crime he should have the book thrown at him.  >:(
