Ah well -- I know that feeling -- but I have gone from 30 odd years in a manual to an auto, my mirror dips for me, the sat nav navigates, cruise (almost) drives --- I feel like being cossetted for a change

Aeye, and very good they are too, as rain sensors go.

Far better than the ones on my Mrs 07 golf when she had it, came on for no reason and didnt when it was peeing down. Same with the auto lights, and the climate control packed in after an hours driving. Bloody vag cars.

Really dont see the need for auto lights, which is just as well really.

Dirty windscreen lights on.........
Leaf in falling towards the car ..............wipers on
Your better off without this tech.

I have both on wife's Signum Design - very effective - no problems at all.

Never worked out if I have intermittent wiper variable speed or not on Omega

Rain sensing wipers seem to be less sensitive on this Omega from the last one which I prefer as they only seem to come on when really required.

Not sure if the sensitivity can be adjusted by Tech II?

Find mine spot on tbh. I did ask both TB and Kevin Wood if tech 2 could interact with it. Neither could find or had seen an option for it, so i dont think Tech 2 knows about Rain sensors.
I asked on here as my local Auto Glass will not fit a heat reflective screen  where different to the original, saying the Rain sensor would not work due to the different glass. Vx tech could not tell me it would work and nor could the dealers. I had hoped tech 2 would have an option for whatever wind screen was fitted or a sensativity option.

Maybe your 2 cars had different windscreens giving different light qualitys to the sensor? Which would imply AutoGlass where right. For info, i thought they did a good job on fitting the screen, shame about the managers attitude.

Both cars have original GM screens.

I know that if you have a heat reflective screen you have to change the solar sensor settings for the climate with Tech II.

Please can you clarify what the hell is fitted to mine. Handbook says I can adjust intermittent wipe with the thumb wheel - but I have no thumb wheel. So as far as I know I just have one intermittent setting. Was this normal on Elites around 2001?

When you look at the windscreen from outside is there a clear spot in the blacked out area around the rear view mirror area.

Should add that most 2001 Elites that i've see do not have rain sensing so I would imagine that it's the standard timed delay.

They seem to be better implemented on Omega's than other cars i've driven TBH.

Thanks -  but do Elite's from 2001 normally have a thumb wheel ?- it seems a bit odd to have no variable intermittent wiper speed.

According to the manual I have it's either timed or rain sensitive, no mention of the variable thumb wheel, however both of my manuals are from 2002 onwards vehicles.

Well, if you want to be cossetted, the sensors for auto-dip headlights and rain sensors for wipers are available as DIY aftermarket kits in USA...
If I can find details I will post for everyone...

 :)
