looking forward to it being back on the Beeb - hopefully the new regs make overtaking more likely - but I thought last year was a great season - right down to the last corner on the last lap of the last race - whats not to like??

How do you think the financial crisis will affect their driving?

I can just hear the team managers telling the drivers to "go careful, and please don't damage the paint work as it is too costly to rectify!!" ::) ::) ::) :D ;)

Many more boring races ahead? :-? :-? :-? ::)

PMSL    I was like that after they banned the high power rally cars, had no interest in it since.  Even if they are slower by todays standards.

Yep, looking forward to it myself, but man they are ugly looking cars this year.  They look all out of proportion.

Wonder though how many evening races will either be cut short or recorded to be shown later on due to some gay Strictly come Prancing rubbish they show...

whats got my goat is how many times will the BEEB pull moto-gp when it clashes with F1  >:( >:( cos sure as eggs are eggs they are, when its cost them a kings ransom to get back from ITV. As for F1 versus Moto-Gp no contest ,moto -Gp wins hands down :y :y :y with loads of overtaking and close racing and off course "Mr Personality" Valentino Rossi .Hes got more than all those robots in F1 put together 8-) 8-)

However the BBC have the equivalent of 7 DTTV streams and a couple more with HD as well on Freesat. ITV have 5 on Freeview one is a +1 channel, Freesat is full of +1s

F1 BBC1
GP Bikes BBC2
ect ect

As to HD AFAIR it depends on the broadcaster - good chance Silverstone will be HD.

BBC did not pay over the top.

1) BBC have no adverts
2) BBC have the theme tune
3) BBC have the HD stream
4) ITV wanted shot of F1 as it wasn't football

Bernie basically gave F1 to the BBC as

1) ITV were football obsessed
2) He was fed up of adverts
3) F1 has a common carrier ethic. As far as possible F1 will be on a free to air common channel such as BBC1 or ITV, this is because the real money comes from sponsorship and the limited amount of pay TV viewers would not interest F1s money men.

This is refreshingly about turn from the footballists

Apparently the Brawns (fka Hondas) have been very quick in testing,no-one can touch them. The mclaren has problems and been midfield.Could be a lot of sandbagging or light fuel load running going on of course, will only realy find out when the races start.
As they say "when the flag drops, the bullsh1t stops". :y

Quite looking forward to the F1 this year.  It gives me 1.5hrs on a Sunday afternoon to have a kip on the sofa.

If I could take the excitement, I could always watch some paint dry...

good post full of very salient points, and well presented!!

but for me its the no interuptions for poxy adverts that im looking forward to!!!
I emailed itv F1 mercilessly complaining about the fact that they dont interupt the poxy pansy football matches for adverts yet the most watched sport in the world on tv they do, warned them they were losing viewers because of it as everyone found it easier to tape then play it later and zoom through the ads!! all i got back was a thankyou for your comment email from them!!! tossers!!!

Worst I saw was 10/08/1997 Hungarian GP, when Damon Hill in an Arrows overtook Michael Schumaker during the adverts.

BTW my daughter was born the following day!
