Looking at getting 4 of these on the MV6 next week, unbeleiveably the best quote I can find is kwik-fit at £441 (for 235 45 17 Y's).
Anyone had any good / bad experience of these before I shell out?
Esp interested in tramlining, which my current suffer badly.

The wider the tyres the more they tramline, so your problem could be simply the 235 tyres, or did you have less tramlining with other tyre makes etc?

Sadly no, I've only got 16"s, but supply only from Black Circles is £400 + fitting, so QF don't seem to pricey - I'd still try local imdependant though as QF want £150 each for mine, and I order them in and have them fitted for £75 each if I buy in pairs.

Never had a car with such wide tyres before.
I know all larger wheels do it to a degree, but tyre choice does seem to emphasise it more.
The tyres on it now are quite bad, and down to <3mm tread so below 'the comfort zone' anyway.

Everywhere else is about £50 more expensive, Kwikfit January sale seems good.
I have a printout valid for 7 Days, but will stick to Jan in case.

I've never been impressed with Pirelli P-Zero, I haven't tried Rosso but one of my dad's old cars had P-Zero Assymetrico and they were really poor in the wet. Not even close to being value for money IMO, very expensive for a distinctly average tyre. Personally I wouldn't touch them, much happier with Goodyear Eagles, Michelin Pilots or Avon ZZ3 from experience.
I think the Omega suspension is susceptible to tramlining, my tyres are 235/45x17 and it quite noticably tramlines. My BMW has 235/40x18 on the front and 265/35x18 on the rear and it tramlines a lot less than the Omega does, even though the tyre setup suggests it should tramline more. Similar story with previous cars, Omega is definitely more prone to it.

You didn't put it right i'm afraid,
worn omega suspension is prone to tramlining, mine doesn't tramline at all. How many miles has your omega done and how many the BMW? Or how much u looked after the omega suspension compared to the BMW?
-
The Omega has a lot more miles, yes, but it's also had a lot more maintenance (the BMW hasn't needed any suspension parts changed since I bought it, although I'm planning on replacing the thrust arms at the next service as pre-emptive maintenance). Both front wishbones are new, as are both drop links. I've had the suspension checked over several times by different people over the last few months, and they have all said they can find nothing wrong with it.
I may replace the springs and dampers as a matter of course, but I don't expect that to eliminate the tramlining.

etyres fit for you onsite as part of price (unless you select not to)

i've had pirellis on various cars, and always swore never again. wouldn't have put them on a wheelbarrow. however, oddly, the rover loves them, so i think different models suite different tyres...

I think I used Etyres - they didn't want to fit away from the local place as Omegas are awkward in the vans

I got a quote today for you from my local tyrefitter "Gates Tyres" in Carlisle and they would supply and fit all in, for £95 a corner = £380. Quote that to Quick Fit and see if they'll match the price :y FYI the fitter didn't rate them and suggested Goodyear F1's at £92 instead. I pass no opinion on that here.
I run Pirelli P7's (factory fit from Vx) BTW. :y

Absolutely agree with Goodyear Eagle F1's. Had them on the sports pack equipped eilte now owned by a friend. Absolutely fantastic on that, (which has the MV6 suspension setup) .
Only others i would consider are the Continental PremiContacts.
I always found P-Zeros too noisy and questionable wet grip (this was not on an Omega though).
-
Thanks for the advice, think I will knock those on the head then
Always had good impressions with pirelli's on lesser cars.
Will look at the goodyear's

Eagle F1s are great tyres, I had them on my Impreza. They are a little soft though which is why I don't have them on my Omega as it does too many miles (and wears the edges too). Right up there with Bridgestone S-02 or S-03 which are also excellent. A lesser mentioned tyre which I've heard nothing but glowing reviews about are Toyo Proxes T1-R, my mate has these and they're great in the wet but I suspect they're also soft.
Between Eagle F1s and Pirellis I'd have the former every time, even if the Pirellis were half the price :o

I've just put 4 Pirelli P7's on my Omega and they tramline really badly - can be scary sometimes. I'm dissapointed really because I had some Hankooks on previously which actually performed really well but suffered from uneven tyre wear.
I was also amazed at the discount you can get if prepared to haggle. Both Smileys and Kwikfit wanted £145 per tyre but within minutes I had them down to £95 each fully fitted, balanced, new valves etc. How many punters are they ripping off at full price I wonder?

I have P7's on mine £80 fitted but only running on 16's and I bought 4 at once I find they last for 20k and wear evenly and TBH corner very well.
