Post by: willyboy on 20 March 2009, 00:38:01
In 75 returned to England from USA shipped my 73 Yamaha XS 500 dohc, by todays standards looks pretty normal   but in those days my mates all had Honda 550 4 cyl and I could out run/accel with my cheaper Yammy did sell it to some kid here & I bought BSA Gold Flash 650 cc loved it but as time went on it had to go as didnt get used enough :'( and needed the £££££

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/will.wombat/Yamaha%20%20TX500%2072%20%201.jpg

Only difference to mine was i had backrest fitted so the young un's didnt slide off as they loved to go on the back for a short spin aghh memories.. :y 8-)

I was braking for this tight corner going home from Matlock years ago on my "Elsie" when my mate on a VF400 came passed, his brakelight came on, smoke off his rear tyre then he entered the hedge quiet quick. I laughed so much I near on followed him. I got off my bike and went over to him, i said, " You Ok Craig?" ..... "Yeah, did you see that rabbit?".   rather rabbit  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Best of it was when we got back his house, he was pulling bits of hedge out of his Bike, when his mum asked what was wrong. So he gave her the story about the rabbit... she said " Did you miss it?"  ;D ;D   ffs ;D
His mum gave me my nick name, which is now my forum name :y

I out top ended a Honda CBX - mainly due to better aerodynamics, he caught up and was surprised it was a 600

For years (while unemployed) I ran a Suzuki GS250T not a quick bike (90 flat out) but very economical.

First proper bike was a Suzuki GP100 - mine was tuned.

Ended up in cars after a totting up ban
