Title: Thermostat on Vauxhalls....How to test ?
Post by: Markie on 29 January 2007, 14:44:22
On Rovers i always used to remove thermostats and suspend them in boiling water with a bit of string to see if the stat was opening....

Did this yesterday with stat from the veccy 2.6 and it does not appear to open even with boiling water.

Is it the same process and should i see/ hear it open.

If so i guess its gubbed  :-/

I should think it should open up if working properly.

Suspeneded a thermostat from a mondeo in water and that opened, I should have thought it would be the same for the omega thermostats.

Same process....i put them into a saucepan on the hob so I can guarantee 92-93deg (the temp at which it should start opening).

As a tip.....you can remove the stat insert from the housing, th ones used on the 2.0 ECOTEC are the same (and cheaper)
