quick question,is the bmw diesel engine fitted to the migs a bog standard bmw lump or is it specially made to fit in the mig?
-
Bog standard but de-tuned (different ECU) as requested by BMW when the unit was fitted in a competitor to their 5 series....
-
is it a v6? if so is it the same as petrol v6.
-
its a straight 6 mate :y
-
what sort of power output would it have as apposed to in a 5 series?
-
I thought it was detuned to protect the Vx AutoBox?
-
As far as I understand, the motor was detuned to 120bhp as this was all that the AR25 Autobox could manage. If the vehicle has a R25 manual box, or if the larger AR35 Autobox is used then the ECU can be altered to reflect the original power of nearer 160/170bhp.

As I understand it, BMW didn't want the Omega to have the performance of the equivilant powered 5 Series so the agreement was that GM could use the S6 as long as it was detuned.
Ever one to save a penny GM realised that if they detuned it enough they could get away with fitting the AR25 rather than the AR35.
