Title: POLL: The purpose of the rear electric blind.
Post by: megaomega123 on 27 January 2007, 23:50:57
Who? (and be honest) has used their electric rear blind to snub another driver or as an act of defiance?

I've used it at night when some tw*t has come up behind me on full beam. Doesn't always get them to dip, though.

On a more serious note, the blinds are invaluable to keep the sun off the kids, especially new-borns that are in rear facing carry cots.

I have big bright letters "BACK OFF" attached to my blind, and I press the button to put it up when being (badly) tailgaited!

I also have a webcam that sometimes I put on the parcel shelf, so should I choose I could record anyone's tailgaiting antics/number plate using my laptop and show it to the police, in an extreme case.

Not standing for tossers on my tail anymore. Just because I keep to speed limits (and no, I don't dawdle...)

I used to use mine at night to cut down on dazzle from cars (too lazy to use the dipped mirror), but now I have a self dipping mirror...

Use in summer, helps keep car a little cooler, also if I have rear passengers for a little extra privacy for them...

What do your rear passengers get up to then? :o

Where's mine on my senny then?

Ah, found it, but it is not electric so I would have to stop to put it up which would not work as the person I wanted to snub would overtake me by then

I always slow right down if someone gets up my a*se. All the way down to a crawl if necessary.

Mainly (only) for t**ts with bad lights (thinking 200w set high will help anyway);
And for the proper use in summer (when I remember - which is usually after locked the car).

Very effective at waking up/generally startling rear passengers  ;D (what you want, a 5sec warning tone?) - although more when putting it back down of late for some reason.

Where's the poll hiding?

I thought it was just to cause me grief and annoyance when it grinds & jams..just like it's always done.
I like the "BACK OFF" message tho'. Maybe I'll have a look at sorting mine after all.

I have to admit I use mine alot, mainly got it for my boys but alot of the time it stays up even during the day when there seats are empty.

Very useful at night when wanting abit of privacy have also noticed cars pull back if I put it up but this doesn't happen all the time.

Still haven't added my dipping mirror so again a benefit I dont need to twist the tilt thingy on the bottom of mirror (laziness ;D)

What does a button for the blind do?  is it full autopilot?  Should the partialy sighted be allowed to drive?  ;D
