Years ago we had a little Westie and allthough he didnt do any tricks, he never pestered for food so at xmas we used to let him have the odd quality street.
He used to hold one of the twists between his paws and then with his teeth he tug on the other twist and then un ravel it in seconds, then carefully lick the chocolate off (he was never too fussed on that - and it wasnt a good thing for dogs anyway) he allways seemed to prefer the harder centres though and crunch them.
He never pestered for a walk, and my Dad allways said I will take you for a walk when the 10 o'clock news comes on.
5 mins to 10 he allways used to lay in front of the TV an then 30 seconds before Big ben chimed he used to sit up, look my Dad striaght in the eyes, tilt his head to one side as if to say, well it is 10pm nowm time for walkies.
I never knew dogs could tell the time. :y

dogs are smart like that
my moms dog can open the freezer and open ice cream tubs and open choclate wrappers

yeah they do seam to know when they have routies my father in laws dog knwos walkies time.
my cat don't do any tricks unless you count jumping up at my front door and scrathing the shit out of it when it wants to come in lol

does cat tricks in clude hanging things from the ceiling fan and putting the fan on the slow speed and watch the cat go crazzy ;D

Whoa, cats are so much more more intelligent than dogs. They don't do any tricks, and we are expected to do everthing for them like opening the door at 3am to let thm in/out. It is we humans who are the stupid one's for putting up with it, I mean dog pees on the carpet we smack it's nose. Cat rips furniture to pieces we reward it by buying it a scratching post with toys on it to keep it amused. >:(
Stands back and awaits raft of post's telling me dogs are more intelligent than cats. ;D

Doesn't matter if cats are "more intelligent" or not ... they are still vermin and should all be shot.

Dogs are very simple creatures.......their philosophy .......goes something like this......
If I can't eat it .......or shag it.......then I'll piss on it......
If only life for us humans .....was so simple. : ;D ;D :y

we call our dog blacksmith, kick him in the nuts & he makes a bolt for the door :D :D

Also when I used to get up at 6:30am he was asleep in my Dad's chair, at 6:45 he used to wake up and get in his basket as my Dad got up for work at 7am.
Same at night, I came home at 4pm, he was asleep, at 6.10pm he was at the door waiting for Dad to get home at 6:15pm
The Dog had a fantastic bond with my Dad, who actually hated Dogs. Sunday lunch all the neighbers had a few jars before lunch and one of them mentioned the little westie (Ross) saying that a relative was seling him for £80, conversation carried on about the price etc and Ross dogs pedigree, then this neighber mentioned the owner had been cruel to the dog.
The next few days my old man didnt say much then just asked us all if we wanted to have a dog and give him a loving home.
My Dad was so pissed off with this owner that he drove all the way to Exeter from Rotherham (in a time I dare not print) with the money money in his pocket. When they got there the dog was so timid it was a wonder he came out to be looked at. But even then he seemed to know what was happening. When he agreed to take the dog the guy actually refused to take payment, he ended up with the cash and a piece of my Dads mind before they left.
I hope we made a difference to that little doggys life as he certainly made a difference to ours. The memories still live on nearly 20 years later.

Our jack russell used to jump over the wall in the back garden and bring back coal fron the neighbours garden ;D ;D
He's a bit old and fat for it now though

I had a Rottwieler that could open a child safety gate, so i used to tie it up with an old shoe lace, so she untied that too.
My new Rottwieler smiles at me :) :) :)
