Sorry if this is a numpty question :-[
Had an email from bt to say we are almost at our limit for the month. ::)
What uses the most, browsing and oofing, and things like that or constantly watching u tube videos / listening to music whilst msn ing. Can't accuse my lazy, should get a job, 19 year old stepson and block his Internet access if I am wrong.
Also swmbo has informed me that she has twice dowloaded a game.
If we have just overloaded the system for the month, then that is fine.
Any helpful, scruntie :P :D comments welcome thanks. :y

any streaming - be it radio, music, iptv, or utube will eat bandwidth. As will music/film/tv/software/p2p downloads

I`m with BT too; they actually give you a month`s grace before charging for excess use over your 10 Gb. limit....then, (if you still continue to exceed the next month) they "reserve the right" to charge £1/Gb for any downloading in excess of 10Gb for the next month......I`ve never actually paid a charge however; despite regularly exceeding my monthly D.L useage limit.
-
We are on unlimited bandwidth for BT, if we were limited we would go through it in days :-X

Thanks Deb's, we have 15GB and are up to 12GB, yes they say the will charge me 58p per 1GB over.
I just have no idea what you get for a GB, I have a '3' dongle and that seems to keep me going when we are at the caravan :y
I think, to be honest I want to make a point that sitting on a computer all day will not get you a Job, and it just shows how much time he is on it. You have to be very careful with step children, their mother's can get very defensive ::) ::) ::)

I take BBC iPlayer episodes for the iPod touch on the way to work, a 30 min program is easily 250mb
Whilst its a lot for one person, start getting 3/4 people doing that kind of use, couple if iPlayer programs a night each and your soon over that kind of limit

Been a long time since I have not had to at least glance at the instructions, with the exception of MFI flat pack kitchen units, a long time ago. ;D ;D ;D

big difference between bt vision and utube, quality and bandwidth ;)
but i think you're right, utube could be culprit. or p2p

Whats my name been mentioned for. Hope you havent been on the naughty sites (Again) Mike.
Youtube is terrible for bandwith, which is why all my toutube time is done in off peak time. Do you get any off peak time with BT?
I have got one of the Premium accounts with my ISP that allowed me anthing I wanted, as often as I wanted it and when I wanted it bandwidth wise. They have since added a fair user policy which gives me 15GB peak time, from 4pm to midnight and all other users are restrained to peak rate Non to midnight.
I am happy as I can manage over 40GB a night if I want it on pff peak

Not a huge amount though - I'd say maybe 5 times bigger, as to P2P - very likely
