Well , just done another 500 mile round trip dropping Mum back home , I run my 2.5 V6 on the Shell High Octane stuff , and she perfoms very nicely on it , has anyone noticed a difference between this and normal unleaded. I should add thats all I have put in my Mig for about a year now , just wondeder what the rest of you thought and if you use it ?

Cant say ive used it much in the Omega but my old Sierra 2.0 Twincam when used on Optimax mad a big difference....seemed too improve the torgue a fair bit.

I went to a 'Total' garage today as it was a peny a litre cheaper than Tesco, but noticed at the pump it was 102ppl diesel, seems I was filling up with something called 'excellence diesel' poster said get extra 30 miles to the tank. Well I was chuffed when the average shown for our run into town was up by 5 mpg :y :y :y

Shell (petrol name of the day) and BP Ultimate are both good petrols, even 95 RON Shell is good.
Perfomance
The 2.6 goes better on LPG than Tesco but better on Shell/BP super petrols than LPG
The 2.0 would tow a LOT better on Shell than Tesco, or even Esso, like 2-3 mpg more and hold top gear better

Im sure someone will be along soon and say ""all petrol is the same regadless of Supermarket or Branded"" but im 100% postive its not. :)

the higher octane will increase performance on engines with knock sensors

I noticed an improvement using BP Ultimate in my 2.2, seamed to pull better. I used it when i went to Europe, 3 up and fully loaded with gear.
I needed all the bhp and torque i could get! ;D
Not tried it in the bike yet, might do with the next tank :)

Its badged for use in sports cars and high revving engines, i would have thought high rpm bike engines would benefit?

it will have minimal benefit. doubt you have knock sensor, so unable to advance ign (which is where the gain will come from)

The various "hi-tech" fuels definately made a difference when my tractor needed a glo-plug change. Didn't have time to do the job and if the temperature dropped below 3c it just didn't want to start. With one of the hi-tech fuels it started no problem, even with well tired glo-plugs. Definately improve starting.
Can't complain on the MPG using Tesco diesel though. Just got in from a 20 mile m/way run. Seeing as the roads were quiet and I was in no hurry, I re-set the average consumption and set the cruise to between 55-60 mph and got 52.7mpg.
Be interesting to do the same trip with one of the hi-tech fuels.

Without a doubt the high octane stuff works better for me.
