Title: Alcohol taste problem
Post by: Martin_1962 on 31 March 2009, 21:15:41
I have got an expensive alcohol problem

Basically I have gone right off cheap canned booze

This means I now have to drink better stuff.

Had a nice cider last night

Just finishing a bottle of Budvar tonight

Got some Stella and Kronenberg to drink and I don#t know if I want to

Not a fan of canned beer - always prefer bottles.  Even my beloved Stella isn't so good from cans, better from bottles.  Still, its a damn sight better than the daft Stella at my crap local, The Chequered Flag.

Best Stella I even tasted was 100yrds from the Stella factory in Leuven ::)

I get the feeling that UK brewed foreign lagers are a pale imitation of the real thing

My fave is Zywiec, its a Polish beer.

Beautiful full taste, really really nice, and just 40p a bottle in Poland !!!

Ooh here's a subject I'm interested in!
I have to agree, Stella is better in bottles but for some reason I reckon Kronenburg ain't too bad in cans!
I was at a real ale festival on Saturday, interesting!

The 500ml bottle of Budvar was nice and reminded me that the occasional lager is nice

give up the daft pikey wagon, forget cornwall (you must have done that to death), and try somewhere different.  Bruge is recommended by me...

Martin, Go down to Stourport and go into a river side pub and ask for a pint of River Water.
That stuff could clean the underside of the Titanic and I bet they wont serve you to more than a half
Its scrumpy at its most lethal

Stella is OK but for me the best  light beer is definitely Budweiser!!
Not the american sh... but the Czech beer.
Of course when it comes to dark ones Guiness rulles

The answer is to brew your own. I have a batch bubbling away at the moment. First one I have done for a long time. We'll see how it turns out. ;)

As many call it Budvar, brought to the UK attention by Michael Jackson on his TV series

US rice beers are a product of lack of skills post prohibition

ok..now time for me to squeeze lemon to your tastes .. ;D

please read this

http://www.alcohol.vt.edu/Students/alcoholEffects/brainBody.htm

says that briefly

"As alcohol moves through the blood stream it damages and kills hemoglobin cells which carry oxygen"

which means in biochemistry your body cells will suffer for oxygen

meaning the pandora box is opened..

"Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes. But, even for cancer, there is only one prime cause. Summarized in a few words, the prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar." -- Dr. Otto H. Warburg in Lecture "

a little more explanation is that if your cells cant get even 60% of the oxygen they need than they start taking oxygen by sugar fermentation which changes their DNA.. :o
