Post by: bertiecbx550 on 01 April 2009, 23:56:35
Whats the law regarding keeping chickens at your private property???? Cause i looked out the window this afternoon and saw 3 or 4 of em roaming free next door....That bloke will do anything to wind me up....Hope he dont have any cockerals or i`m gonna roast em!!! if they wake me after a night shift....

No rules unless he does have a cockeral. Then you can claim under noise abatement.

Oh and cats don't like chickens much!!!!

The neighbour has got chickens and ducks at the end of my garden, they are actually nice to see, and he has the sense to only bring in a cockerel when the chickens need it  ;)

I also have a friend who runs a free range chicken farm which I help out with occasionally, which I really enjoy strangely.

But have to say cockerels really bad news.

apparantly if its council property then you need their permission/private property then no permission required as long as you dont exceed 50 chickens then its a commercial venture and your regulated by defra... :-/
