Every Sunday there is bikes there, if it is a lovely day you will struggle to find a place to park ya bike it gets that full. The reason it gets loads of bike I am sure is whichever way you ride to it, the roads are good :y The A6 is rather fun...A few to many Speed Cameras and Coppers hanging out of the odd van here and there through Ashbourne but still worth a visit just for the atmosphere, a ride out and a breakfast or bag of chips :y

Injection?  Modern fangled stuff, never catch on.

BTW, anyone any good at balancing carbs?  The ZX10 is quad carbbed, and they probably need tweaking...

This is true. Length of heater hose in your ear and compare the sound of each choke.

As Chrisgixer said, it it most noticeable as a lumpy idle because when there's only a very small throttle opening small differences between the throttle angles make a large difference in airflow.

Yep.....being carbs the venturi and jet whistle varies a lot with small changes in air flow and hence easy (and often more accurate) to tune by ear.

Of course, they will be out of balance within 100 miles!

yup  :-[

Also Tunnie reckoned that it smelt a bit rich when I was showing him how slow his bike is ;) - and yes, that was after I'd turned the choke off  :-[

Thats easily achievable.

I noticed by the fidgetting that Tunnie has a limit of 90m before needing a break for an hour or so.  So he probably could cover a few hundred miles in a day without issue, with breaks.  I would imagine as he rides more, the numbness will not happen so much :)

Well, if the balance is out the mixtures will be out too. The idle jets on those carbs are usually quite crude and more sensitive to vacuum than air volume.

Having said that, if the rich smell was at wide open throttle it was probably just because the mixture needs to be rich at WOT.

Kevin
