In a network cable, there are 8 cables which can be identified by their colours...
I've always said 'White Orange' if the cable is white and orange... Someone else I know always says 'Orange White' and it confuses the hell out of me! ;D
For example I would say 'White Orange, Orange' and he would say 'Orange White, Orange' >:(
So, who’s right! ::)
-
whoever can terminate the cable quickest!
I always found it super fiddly getting them all to line up properlly

I've always worked it on the trace colour is the second colour so an orange wire with a white trace is Orange/White
-
Yep, trace colour is the secondary colour
-
As above, primary colour is the first bit, trace is second.
Orange/White would be the orange with the white trace. Note not all cables have the white trace on the primary, but in telephony/data its still normal to say orange/white.

Thats because you're a student....
I'm quick, but you want to see the cablers at work :o

Ow yes, cable gangs throw the stuff in at one hell of a speed!

Hmm, Im getting confused about which is the trace colour now! :-[

I would call the above White Blue... my work colleague would call it Blue White? :-?

And then told my colleague.... who then said 'your 4 years younger'... so I kind of dug a hold for myself! ::)
Thats White-Blue

Lol, I guess those of us working in the telecoms industry on next gen networks and Layer 2/3 hardware design are bound to be wrong really!

To think you and I have got it wrong all these years... ...and I know I'm trained in it, and I suspect you are to (not that the colour scheme needs training on!).

Hehe...
Asked him to ask his boss what color a White-Orange cable was, so he did... boss said 'thats white-orange'... jim says 'nah its orange-white as its the orange pair, and the white isnt a colour!' LOL! ;D
He knows hes wrong, but he wont admit it! ;D

If your mate thinks he's that clever, ask him why one of the pairs (white/green) dont follow the pair numbers of the plug?. :y
