My renewal is up in just over a month, so I'm doing a few online quotes (as you do) to gauge how much it will be...
Now, last year I paid the grand total of £87 with Bennetts for cover on my CG, having just done my CBT. Only TPFT mind, but was upto 6000 miles, and covered the panniers too. Worth noting I'm 27, been driving since 2000, no accidents or claims on either the bike or car, and currently have 6 points. SP50 in 2005, and SP30 in 2007), so its not like I can blame it on getting points or anything else between now and then.
Now, 12 months down the line, I have 1 years NCB on the Bike... Quotes are ranging from £110+, and thats without adding the Panniers in!! With them, prices sky rocket (and I'm not joking here) going upto £10009!!!!!
Bennetts are even quoting online £148 now...
Bloody ridiculous!! I can't wait to see what the actual renewal cost is when the letter arrives... I know they always try it on when it comes to renewal (my car insurance is usually always £300 more than quotes elsewhere)
>:( >:( >:(
Just to show, here is the £10009 quote...

the policy shop always give very random quotes, kwik fit when used for the miggy weren't bad though :y
-
I have always found Carole Nash to be fairly competitive.
When I had 125 many years ago, AA were quite good as well :y

I very nearly used kwik fit on the Omega...however the 47 comments with everyone negative made me shop elsewhere. :y
-

Fully comp, 24 years old, first bike, and 1 claim about a year ago :y

And the excess is?

Wise move Stuart as they would bugger up the insurance as well no doubt as they bugger up the cars themselves!! ::) ::) ::) ::) :D ;)

Me too on the Ariel Golden Arrow

I liked Carole Nash until I had to claim for an own-faulter.
They hiked the premium and I still get quotes from them just to have a laugh. They quote 100's over 'normal' just for me.

Carol Nash quoted me £164 :(
Swiftcover... £78.75 with a £300 excess (so better but not great purely because the excess is half of what the bike is actually worth)
Also tried The Bike Insurer - but looks like they are exactly the same as swiftcover (same prices, quote engine, etc) But neither Swiftcover or BikeInsurer had an option to add Panniers...

madness!!!!
I have spent a lot of today Paul trying to understand how an insurance company can calculate a premium of £10,009!! :o :o :o :o
I believed those premiums were reserved for the likes of Ferrari's, Lamborghini's or Bugatti's, not motor bikes! :o :o :o :o
Ten thousand and nine pounds; how, when, why, what......???? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-?

And don't forget, the CG is a 124cc 4-stroke incapable of going above 65mph :-/

That makes it even more incomprehensible!! :o :o :o Do these bikes have a poor crash record? :o :o :-? :-? :-? :-?

I'll give you a tip. Never ever ever ever ever ever, go with Bennetts.
They are absolute clowns.
I use, carole nash, ebike or CIA. Never had any problems.
-
I've been with Bennetts for the last three years. See above for my view on Carole Nash.
Funny old world eh?
-
Well the Bennetts renewal letter came through today... £136.75 :-/
I'll give them a call later on once I've got even more quotes. So far the best they have to beat is the £78.75... Oh and Bennets have also upped the Excess by another £100 to £350 now...
To be honest through, I may just change to either AA or DirectChoice, as there quotes were cheapest and also have less of an excess compared to Bennetts... Be easier too than being on the phone for ages seeing if they will match it...
