I broke a molar 5 weeks ago (don't know how), Took 3 weeks to get an appointment to start treatment when moulds were made and a temporary crown was fitted (which fell off after 2 days) then 2 weeks later my new NHS stainless steel crown was ready.
The dry fit was OK but when he cemented it on, it didn't sit on straight, so some machining was needed to make it fit to the upper tooth.
Straight away I was getting terrible hot/cold sensitivity problems, so went back today and saw a different dentist (mine's on paternity leave) and he put some filler around the bottom of the crown and advised me to rub sensodyne into the area before bed each night and leave it there.
Now I've got to go back, have the new crown drilled off, another temp fitted, and another go at fitting a permanent replacement.
Not happy. >:(
Although I'm not being charged for the extra work, quite rightly so, but the discomfort and inconvenience are a right pain.

I must be well lucky, on the odd occasion I've had a problem, I phone my dentist and the receptionist asks when can I get there. :y
Mind you , I did have one instance before I registered with my current dentist. Several years ago I had a belter of a toothache and was phoning around trying to get an appointment as I was not registerd with anyone. One dental practice asked if it was urgent, and I said I was taking an unhealthy amount of pain killers to cope with it. The receptionist said they could fit me in on October the something or other....this was early August.
