:o  I'm surprised ..She was not English ?

Oh yes she was English Cem, but if she had lived history may well have been changed dramatically and the great Queen Elizabeth I , Boleyn's daughter, may very well have never inherited the throne of England, instead with it going to other heirs (it was very touch and go anyway!!)  This could have resulted in a monarch nowhere near as strong willed and politically clever as Elizabeth, who 'played' along the Spanish King Philip. She used her female abilities and shrewdness for years. Elizabeth had held the Spanish at bay, but when the great Spanish empire, under King Philip, did eventually decide to try an invasion of England with the Armada in 1588, it was due to a great deal of luck that they hit very bad weather, the fleet was scattered and wrecked. In addition the fortitude of the very loyal servants of Elizabeth ensured their defeat by using a few well placed fire ships!

If it had gone the other way, the English would have been overwhelmed by the Spanish, then, no doubt, by the French as they gained ascendancy with their empire.  The British Empire would not have existed!

This is all counter factual history, but it highlights how one event can change a whole country's future.  Hitler fell foul of that one, and the British still speak English! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

Thanks Andy! :y :y :-* :-*

I just cannot please everyone, and yet again I seem to have upset someone for doing what I like doing............................................ chatting, helping fellow members and providing some entertainment with every one else across the Forum sections.

I can't tell jokes, so I have to stick with what I know; Omega's, cars, ships, planes, general mechanics, engineering, business management & administration, DIY, cooking, fashion, and yes politics and history!  Boring to some, including it seems STMO! :o :o :o

But if that is causing displeasure I will willing sign off for good as there are some strange attitudes on here and it is not surprising not many women, let alone men are contributing once becoming members. :( :( :(   Just look at the comments under the "welcoming newbies" threads!  Personally I was embarrassed by it and tried to let all "outsiders" reading it that 'they' were joking, but no it still continued! :o :o :o

Oh I'm fed up and am going to drop out for at least while!! :( :( :(

Just one more 'quote' and you can have the whole rather page. >:(

What was that for?  :-? :-? :-? Chill out!  ;)

I've been on tenter hooks waiting  for Lizzie's reply!!  :y  :y

I started that one off Lizzie. ;)as regards the newbies................It was a joke ;) ;) ;)......but sod the newbies anyway  ;D ;D ;D

Best not to get too offended by STMO 123......as I said earlier in this thread............he is a moody old scroat ...........but he does liven up the forum....and his comments were made in jest. :y :y :y :y
