Title: A useful tool from Aldi
Post by: Marks DTM Calib on 09 April 2009, 09:13:37
Reasonably priced and ok spec, ideal for around the house and basic checks under the bonnet:

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/58_9443.htm

Appears to be much btter than the super cheap ones!

Its good because it supports current measurement which can help with battery drain faults etc.

I had one of them the last time around too, one with the yellow casing, dropped it twice from about 6ft and it still works a treat  :y

i have uber cheap for use on car (has current settings though), and a resonable (but non calibrated) on for indoors.

I normally end up driving over them

Try dropping it from 20ft.

Having worked in electronics for a bit I always swore by my Fluke meter, but since I've left that arena, I've had cheap things.

The best one was one that cost me £3 off Leighton Buzzard market one Saturday on a whim, but it expired, (in a grand fashion I might add!!),  when I lent it to my builders to try to fault find on their cordless hammer drill.

I do like Adli's stuff actually, if I'm passing, I might just procure one of those!
