Title: Vomit
Post by: Pitchfork on 09 April 2009, 19:50:16
I bought the wife a brand new car a couple of weeks ago. The following day 4yr old grandson, sitting in front seat threw up his breakfast all over the child seat, front seat, carpets, central console etc.
Have cleaned it several times with detergent & upholstery cleaner but now she complains that the inside of the car smells of vomit
Any ideas how to get rid of the smell?

not sure if you can still get them
but i don't know the name of them
its a can you stick in the middle of the car close all windows, press the button on the can to break the seal and shut the doors
it then fills the car with smoke which makes all the inside of the car smell really nice makes it smell like new get rid of all bad odours

you just wait so long for the smoke to go and job done
i think you can run the heater fans on recirculat for it to clean all the vents as well

Put a kipper in with the aircon filter, you won't notice the vomit smell then.

Pitchfork I can post you a highly fragranced deoderiser disk that'll cover any smell, just drop it in the heater air intake box. I use them at work after the kids have puked on the carpets ;D They smell sort of vanilla/fruity but don't get it on your fingers, you'll smell of it for days ;D

As mentioned a can of stuff that removes all smells.
On coaches we have a "cherry bomb machine"
You plug it in, put it on board , , stick a bottle of stuff in the machine, shut the door and press the countdown button, watch the smoke appear, leave it an hour or so (or until you can see through the windows) and voila a fresh smelling vehicle.
Maybe you can get a local valeter to do the same???

Just had to deal with my 2 year old who just threw up his milk he drank before bed not nice   :-[
but the air freshner bombs were for sale in aldi or lidl not sure if they still have them though.
failing that some cotton wool with some oil which you use in an oil burner placed over the vent should sort it :y

Break car window, pretend to steal car, then set fire to it and let insurance buy you a new car  :y

No more smell  :)

If that doesn't work nuc it  :y

I have never tried this, but I have heard that splitting open a bag of charcoal and leaving it in the car (not sure how long for) is a good way of absorbing nasty smells.

EDIT:Buy a couple of bits of rump steak while you're at it. If it doesn't work at least you can have yourself a nice barbie!

Mrs. KW did a bit of red wine practice in the passenger footwell of my MV6 about a year ago.  ::)

She's not used to it. She normally leaves the drinking to me. I'm better at it. ;)

Get a male cat and let him spray in there...that smell over powers anything. ;D
