Where are the pics of that!? :D - Must have been fun.
Looking at those pics again all the LPG loom seams to have quite a bit of oil on it :-/
You also mentioned it had fresh stuff in when you bought it, wonder what caused them to do that? - As it would have cost money for new oil... being a salvage place I would not expect them to do that.
Maybe a few clues to why its running like a sack of crap?
-
OMVL Dream - supposed to be quite good, at least I will be able to find more out.
Please note all locations of bits, and I would risk £2 of gas to see if it will switch over.
-
If I can make it run for a few mins, then I'll chuck some gas in to see.....
-
WARNING!!!! if its got a missfire dont try it on gas!!! been there done that and watched as the inlet manifold fell off the engine!!! :o

Very unlikely on an SGI system, that happens on old skool single point system cos it feeds into the air intake between the AFM and throttle so the manifold is full of gas!

Had a gas backfire on my old Range Rover, it was.... interesging!

Is that why the tanks fell off!
-
No, the tanks fell off because I was young, had never driven a 4x4, and totally over-estimated what it could do off-road!! I went up a mound, and the tanks got pulled off!!!
