Yeah looks good. Just as a matter of interest, what type of grille are you replacing.
Title: Re: eBay links.
Post by: iggy21uk on 16 August 2006, 02:04:53
I want to replace the standard Irmscher grill fitted to the 99 Elite - [ mines been damaged]
by someone  starting van in-gear.

FYI - Irmscher UK tell me - parts are made for five years - then while stocks last!  >:(

Thus none in stock now -hence e-bay .
Willing to buy from any legal source  -- see wanted

Yeah that's just typical, same as Vx no longer feature the Omega on their accessories page. Would like one of these grilles too, but not just at the minute and they are getting harder to get. Good luck with your bidding though. I might end up thinking about one of those 'sport grilles' advertised on ebay that are badgeless. I think they are a bit of an improvemnet over standard, but the jury is still out! Not sure if anyone has tried them before.

How damaged? If you replace it I might be interested in the old one to try and repair... it'll never look as good as a non-broken one of course but will go nicely with the little rust spots on the door  ;D

Cheers.

Seems a shame to let it go for less than £100. Although it may still jump.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/vauxhall-omega-leather-seats_W0QQitemZ140040198870QQihZ004QQcategoryZ10404QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I bid on these as they are pictures of an estate interior. Then found question at bottom where bloke selling says it is from a saloon. (looks like estate to me) I cancelled my bid and emailed him to explain why i had cancelled and he said they are actually from an estate.

He has now correctly answered some further questions.

However he claims they are from an Elite and then in answer to a question says a CD. Either he is very confused or is pulling a fast one.

What a cool site for translations!

It reckons it says this

In this auction you know a used, but very well received Color info. display for the OPEL omega B ersteigern. The display fits in vehicles starting from BJ 2000. Whether it fits also into the older omega, I cannot say. The display was developed duly (workshop) and represents a clear revaluation of the vehicle. In my vehicle became the display to Siemens a NCDR 2011 navigation radio (not in the scope of supply!) operated and functioned up to the development perfectly. It possesses only a pixel error of the quantity 1x1mm, which is to be seen however only with black screen. The equipment is now remaining, since I mean omega sell and the dealer does not pay anything for later inserted option. Questions can be placed and become gladly by E-Mail also as fast as possible answered. The dispatch takes place with the post office. The packing and forwarding expenses amount to 9.00 euro. With Sofortkauf forwarding expenses are void! Since it concerns with this auction a private sales, the buyer with delivery of a requirement does expressly without the warranty laws regulated by European Union guidelines. Return etc. is impossible.

discs and pads, front and rear, complete setup.

I know we are always referred to original Vaux kit but, tight Jock that I am, spotted this and wondered if its worth it for the rear discs/pads alone, with bonus of spare fronts?

Funny you should mention this I was watching Mythbusters over the weekend and one Myth they tried to bust was that of gas saving gadgetry. They tested quite a few of these devices using measured amounts of fuel and a dynamometer with  both carburated and injection systems. The results "myth busted" in other words these gizmos are nothing more than a modern day snake oil. They didn't actually feature this gadget but I can't see it being any more useful than the ones they did.

I cant see how it would work, sure the air will be turbulant as it passes through it but, by the time its passed through a throttle butterfly, plenum and inlet runners the effect is going to be minimal at best....plus fuel atomisation is already pretty optimum because its squirted at high pressure on to the back of a stinking hot exhaust valve.

Thanks for that.  For some reason my PC freezes at the 'submit quote' button and refuses to give me an answer.  In any event, the cambelt and tensioners was due almost 5k miles ago and he tells me that Vauxhall say the 40k interval applies to pre 2003 year for some reason.  For 2003 and onwards, the v6 reverts to 80k intervals?  Cant work that one out, basically the same engine, AFAIK, and he is not going to get the belt done or, probably, negotiate the price based on this additional info.  Price at £4400 at the moment, reserve still not in sight.

edit - got it from daughters PC
Part-exchange Price: Excellent condition: £5430  Average condition: £4890  Below average condition: £4360

It's a pitty the allumimum is the 'cheap' one. I really fancy the 'wooden' Irmscher one but those advertised on the German sites only seem to have the wheels without the radio controls.  :(

It looks good from the 'fotos, but there's no way I'd buy without seeing it in the flesh, & 2 heads are always better than 1, if you can get a mate to go with.
Parts of his write up sounds like the same he uses for any car, just make sure what matters applies to this one! I would be worried about the EML, & what is said about the alarm upgrade?
Also - I presume it's a GLS or base model, so if you're looking for all mod cons & gadgets - you ain't going to get them on this one, & is it a 2 litre you want?

Best wishes, good luck
John

Sellers feedback is very, very dodgy. Its more what he doesn't say in the listing, than what he does.

Thanks guys for your thoughts.....

kjon the EML does put me off some what...just wondering if the car does indeed drive as good as he says then maybe its worth a gamble,i assume if it was plugged into Tech 2 then the fault should be easily found.?

Yes its the 2 lte im after as ive had them before (salon) and found them to be fine power wise, both previous cars were gls so dont mind the lack of equipment at all.

STMO123 yeah its seriously made me wonder...ive emailed him asking for a contact number but sod all so far,im half tempted to bid and if win take a mate and really have him throughly check it over..As the seller says in the advert ""If not completely happy walk away....although no one has yet"" (maybe he threatens to knee cap them lol)

Its the looks and price that are making me think even if it needs a couple of hundred spending on it,would still work out a cheap car.....seems like the estate"s make crazy money. :(

Seems like a nice car but i'd be as STMO123 said very very wary of his feedback
