our pans are ceramic, then finished off with a wooden seat, anything else would be too cold on the bum cheeks ;D ;D

Actually this kitchen lark is starting to get exspensive.  Decided to do away with the cooker (nothing wrong with it) and have it built in, was having a diswasher anyway, but now nothing matches, so looking at fridges and freezers now. :-/

Stainless (thick bottomed types); dishwasher safe. :y

Teflon coatings are (generally) rubbish and don`t last.....avoid wooden handles (not D/W safe).
Pyrex glass becomes very-dull with time and can chip at edges if handled roughly when stacking.
Enamel coated Cast iron look nice, but are too-heavy for daily use and not all are D/W safe.
Aluminium are often cheap and nasty and may distort with excessive heat and age.

Stick with Stainless! :y

Excellent advice, cheers Debs.  I had stainless at the top of my list.  Had'nt given wooden hadles a thought, but then maybe thats because I dont see them that often.

Teflon I have never had a real issue with, Mum allways brought me up never to use metalic utensils on teflon.  But as you say, it doesnt last forever.

Another vote for stainless. My Mum bought me a set when I moved out and promptly decided to boil some spuds amongst the moving-in chaos. I think they ended up being "boiled" for about 3 hours. Difficult to say how long they actually boiled for because the presence of water is required for that method of cooking. Anyway, suffice it to say the saucepan cleaned up like new with a bit of dishwasher powder. They still look as new after over a decade of my cooking. That's pretty good, BTW. ::)

Been looking at pans myself lately.

Teflon seems to be now advertised as metal utensil safe on some models.

I am liking the look of the hard anodized pans.

Tefal do a nice looking set, but my current fav's are the circulon 2's

Never used em though, still looking myself.

both look to be about £75 for a 5 pan set when on offer.

It'll need a new floor to go with the new appliances -- new paint to go with the new floor, then new curtains to go with the new paint.  That'lll make the door look shabby .... new door. Now the carpet on the other side looks dated, will need new paint to match the new carpet ..... and on .... and on ......

Sod it -- cheaper to move house  ::)

I am moving house, thats what's causing the problems.

Gutted the kitchen, and had the Gas meter fitted outside. now they have to install a new incoming water supply because some pleb has fractued it were it come through the floor.

When I say gutted, I mean gutted, this is it a few weeks ago.
