Title: lucky escape this morning
Post by: Richie London on 18 April 2009, 16:03:38
going round the greenford roundabout, wheel hit the edge of a deep pothole and took the tyre out the rim, nearly hit the car next to me and ended up half way backwards to avoid him, another car just stopped from going into my side. nearly had a heart attack. got witnesses name and address so need to know who to write to complain to. went down to tyre shop my mate knows and got a dunlop for £30 quid. this is the 2nd tyre in 2 weeks thats come away from the rim.

One parish council in Essex has decided that it doesnt want its potholes repaired, they say they are an excellent traffic calming measure >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
These rather retards shouldnt be allowed to be in charge of a whelk stall never mind their local roads.
Leaving aside for a moment the damage they do to cars and the potential for causing accidents due to incidents similar to richies, they obviously have no idea about the huge risks these cause to motorcyclists/pedal cyclists and maybe even horse riders. >:( >:( >:(

Thank god you are ok Richie, that is the main thing!

But also it is good that the only obvious damage to the car was on the wheel!   Have you checked the suspension though as that sounds like a right old biff to the wheel?

I'd also recommend taking a picture of the pot hole to support your claim action a.s.a.p.   After a woman went under a lorry in Tenterden down here due to pot holes and was killed Ashford Council quickly covered them up within the hour!! ;)

If you had a bang of that severity, check wishbones, general suspension components and alignment too - and send 'em the bill :y

i had thought of that, there is a slight vibration on braking. unless the new tyre hasnt been balanced right, the kid took a good 15 mins to put the tyre on the rim.
