Title: I have now had ENOUGH
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 19 April 2009, 22:23:34
... of Front Wheel Drive French heavy cars, with 90bhp and a 0-60 in one week.

Having just done major overhaul work on the 406 TD, I am totally un-inspired.

I'm also quite carked off that following the rebuild, I have one leaky seal  ::)

They are great cars, and the one I have will go on for a long time - it's just not the same after owning a miggy  :'(

Anyhoo - this time next week I'll have a Miggy V6 to tinker with  8-)

Little expense - more time, really.

TB - They're not too bad actually - have a 6 car a year limit, so I have to comply with that  ;D

406 Rubbish build quality and megga expensive parts.
Atleast the engine control module hasnt failed yet, you would realy have a reason to complain if and when it does.

really James, what do you expect from a French car? Never in a million years. And never ever over a meega surely? Better on fuel, ok, but at what price?

Welcome back by the way. :-)

More years ago than i care to admit i drove an F reg 405 GLD non turbo, no power steering as a taxi in Sussex. Was'nt a very old car then, 300 +k still going strong.
Slow but it handled well. :y

I had a 405 L reg 1.9 non Turbo diesel - wouldn't win any races at all, painfully slow - but it just went on, and on, and on...  :y

Unfortunately though, I like a little more poke. Plus, what I've saved in petrol in recent months will justtify the Omega, Maria...  ;D

if you go for a french fwd try 970 kg 1.6 110 hp clit..

fuel cost nearly same as diesels , engine maintenance nearly 0, and cause most of the 2.0 drivers cry ;D

You don't want to try a 1700 low blow TD Astra ......  :-? It's the first car I've driven where I've run out of revs joining a motorway before I've ran out of road!  ;D  ;D  ;D  :y

I too am missing an omega again  8-)
My rover turbo is fast, makes nice noises and now has a stainless and de-cat........ and handles reasonably well. But i am toying with the idea, as i miss rwd, the presence ( im sick of people thinking "its only a rover" and having to prove them wrong) and the space and equipment my miggys have had .
My problem is i can chuck money at my turbo and get some nice bhp gains and i dont know how easy it is getting bigger bhp from an omega ?
My insurance however is not a problem as i do it online, dont have a max ammount of changes and dont even have to ring them up and feel silly changing my car "again"  ;D
Good luck with ya new omega James  :y maybe i too will join you and shortly return to mig ownership??
By the way do all your family and friends call you a car-slag or is that just mine with me????? :D :D

I took her little Rover for a blast the other day, looking for a Traffic Master mast (had to change the TM unit), and I'd forgotten how much fun it was...  ...I've got a bit too used to my mobile armchair...
