Just before my sunday roast got the car all done...started 1st time and fingers crossed no leaks or weird noises.
Cant wait to see what difference the 3.0 cams make.
Feel quite proud that on my own (with some tips from you lot..many many thanks) I did:
Cam swap,
New cambelt kit,
New camcover gaskets,
Cleaned out breather system
Cleaned out plenum and the black palstic bit that live on top of it
New plugs
New HT leads
New water pump
New oil cooler cover
New gaskets, O-rings, washers and bolts through out
New aux belt
Re-greased aux belt tensioner pulley
Fitted 'new' 3.0 throttle body (its seems the 3.0 throttle position sensor wiring plug is slighty different to the 2.5...had to swap them over)
Fresh oil and filter
Fresh antifreeze (well the last lot is over City Road, London EC1 !!!)
Off to Wheels in Motion tomorrow for the 2000 mile final check and while caning the credit card might treat the car to fresh tyres for the MOT on the 27th Feb

Fantastic achievement :y

All to do next is a bit more sporty exhaust...but that can wait until my accident compo comes through...the present system looks new-ish...still very silver and labels etc all over it
-
Nice work :y

Good job, did it start with no fault lights...?
-
turned the key....no warning lights remained lit, no check light on the MID just the usual brake light test...pressed the brake pedal and all ok. Spun the engine and all ok...a little smoke as the plug wells were wet due to old gakets leaking etc. I tried to soak up the oil as best I could but some still ran into the bores. Let it run with the odd 30 seconds at 3000 revs and all good.

fantasic work Andy! You got a lot done there, should be very proud of that. Extra proud due to no faults :y
-
How long did it take you?
-
Wow.... well done! :y
I wish I could do all that in a weekend..? :(
-
Start to end about 3 1/2 days....limited due to shift work and a 4 month baby boy
So I cant get to my spanners when the missus is away etc.
And I decided to take my time, go slow and thorough as I didnt want to re-do/un-do anything
It was easier stripping it all down than re-building...my gagarge still looks like a breakers!!!...probably another 1/2 day cleaning tools and putting stuff away

Good going :)
