I`ve never liked the non-graphical UI of the Vista defragmentation engine; `that combined with it`s seeming slowness.
I`ve tried 'Defraggler' (free download from Filehippo.com) which is another product from the 'CC cleaner' folks.

Defraggler seems much faster in use and freed-up significantly more HDD space following use than Vista`s defrag. engine ever did.
Defraggler identifies and can process entire drives, folders or even just single files.....and has a nice graphical progress UI to ease Deb`s "is-it or isn`t-it" worries. ;)

I`m surprised there is such a difference `twixt the efficiency of defrag. programmes. :-?
