My service lights have been on for absolute ages so today i searched the e34 forum and found out how to reset them and i`ve just done it and feel proud that i`ve been able to do it and now i`m gonna get some fresh coolant and do a coolant change and get hold of anew pollen filter and change that as well..... :)
-
well done mate
those bmw service lights used to be a pain
what was the way you did it
-
I got a piece of copper wire and stripped it back a cm either way and put it into the diagnostic ports 7 + 19 turned ign to position 2 and left it for approx 30 secs and you can hear the ecu clicking as it resets itself and then you turn the ign off and remove the wire and turn the ign back on and the lights are reset....

Well i was gonna buy a service reset tool off ebay but i was not gonna pay £10 - £25 so i thought of the paperclip trick on the miggys and just searched via google and the beemer forums and found this little nugget out and why my blower aint working proper....blocked pollen filter...and how to change this as well so i`m off to halfrauds now to see if they stock it and do that as well while the weathers nice...
-
go for it mate
weather is good s get the bits done while you can :y

I see BMW are every bit a stupid as GM then. But then, seeing as Mrs TB worked for them for years, I already knew that ;)

Not as stupid as Halfrauds...I went in and asked for a pollen filter for a Bmw 5 series e34 and they dont know what 1 is!!!! so its off to Gsf or Ecp tommorrow...I was to scared to ask for coolant...They would of probably tried to sell me car wash instead....Is it too much to ask for staff who know what they doing in their job??? :o

lol, think they call them cabin filters!
sorry to say in Helfrauds, the only ones who seem passionate about their subject is the bike people.

I usually only go in as last resort or for the tools as they are very good on those and i`m too scard to goto machinemart as i would spend my wages in there!!! i just fancied working on the car today... :(
