Title: Removing smoke ?
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 27 April 2009, 22:15:00
Although my Elite's not been smoked in by me or the previous owner, and it was beutifully cleaned before I collected, my nose is too sensitive and I can pick up on a cigarette smell in the car.

Anyone got any tips on the best way I can deal with this?

Namely, any products, and any cleaning methods that can be used?  :y

It's currently sat on my mum's drive - so might give her something to do while I'm at work  ;D

There is a specific anti-nicotine deodouriser called "Ozium Air Sanitizer"...as used by hospitals, hotels/restaurants etc.....`very effective spray.
Available from good quality department stores, online or a cleaning specialty supplier.

I need to find something that removes the fragrence of wet dog (from the Astra)!!! I've had various panel & carpets out, scrubbed with Flash etc etc & even jet washed them afterwards. Although better, you certainly don't need a sensitive nose to still smell it!   :(

A simple febreeze fabric refresher seemed to work in my carlton,
first sprayed onto all carpets and door panels, left overnight, repeated next evening, and then once more a week later- worked a treat!

A good strong mix of all purpose clean should do the trick but i could be wrong or poor boys do a cleaner for interior.

A kipper next to the pollen filter soon gets rid of the nicotine smell.

I keep suggesting leaving an open bag of charcoal in the car as it was once suggested to me but I've never had cause to try it. Wonder if it works?
