Sorry, too far away to help, but I really can understand you wanting this one Baconbuttyman!
Lovely looking example, and takes me back to what I consider were the last of best days of Ford's in the UK :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :y

i know is a corker, the guy says its absolute mint, no rust or blemmishes, i owned one of these about 11 yrs ago, i must admit if i got it the mig would have to go, that would be a hard decision, but the granny beats the mig hands down

Taxi Driver lives in Swindon - try sending him a PM.

I sorry I'm not anywhere near to check it but If it is as mint as the guy says then that's gotta be worth the money he is asking!
Love the mk11 granny! :y

What, with it's awful fitting body panels, thirsty old unrefined engine, no airbags, ABS, traction, naaaasty brown colour, boxy square headlights..... :P
Take a look at this pic - note the p**s poor alignment between the passenger wing and the bonnet - and the headlight and the grille...

(Only teasing)...
If you want a classic ford, I'd go with a MK1 escort :y
I'm sure it's sentimental to you for your own reasons - but I can't honestly say it "beats a mig hands down"... I wouldn't swap it for my Elite!

......

The bonnet isn't shut!!
No ABS TC etc correct, and no electrical sh1te either. :y

.......and anyway who ever heard of a perfectly finished brand new Ford back then in the 70s and early 80s??! ::) ::) :D :D
I used to get my new Escorts, then Cortina's and do a 'fault' list as you would with a building.
One Escort had two inches square on a front wing were the paint had missed. A MkV Cortina had it's prop shaft only loosely bolted on and was virtually off after doing a few miles, back to the dealer. Another MkV overheated, and when I removed the thermostat housing (couldn't be fussed with the warranty and the dealer! ::)) I found a large piece of alloy half blocking the pipe!! ::) ::) And so it went on with every brand new Ford! ::) ::) ::)
This routine only stopped when I took delivery of the then 'new Cavalier' and started using Vauxhall's. :D :D :y :y

these things were a d.i.y.ers dream, you could sit in the engin bay and work easily, not like the migs layout, i am very wary of trying the mig repairs, these things are easy to fix and sort, wifey is now unsure weather to take the plunge, >:( >:( >:(.
but another prob [poked up, theres a nice 51 plate 2.2 dti mig for sale around the corner for £1300, leather interior etc, but the granny soon be tax exept. ooooh ffs, now i am torn :'(

I was only teasing mate... mig is my choice, but mine only :y
I thought if it wasn't made before a certain year, it will never be tax exempt, anymore...?
-
I liked the old granny's :y
So i dont mind going and having a butchers for you.......however it will only be a cosmetic look at it.....not a mechanical look.

I think tax exemption stopped after a certain production year - can't recall which, without checking...
-
It was a moving date based on car age which the torries put in place (25 years)....then labour abolished it and fixed the date to 1/1/1973 (as it came into force on 1/1/1998) shortly after coming to power.

It amazes me that after more than 10 years after the rolling 25 years tax expemtion was abolished people still believe that it's still in opperation. :-? :-? :-? :-?
