Went to fuel up the motor today but couldn't as the fuel cap refused to unlock.
So when we got home the Gnome and I dismantled the locking motor to find this.

The commutator has completely disintegrated so no wonder the bloody thing wasn't unlocking.

Looks like I'll be getting a new one from the Pink Peril in the near future.

The armature seems free enough.
I was testing the signal with a meter and noticed the unlocking pulse peaks about -11.6V but the locking pulse only seems to peak about 9.2V. I wonder if the locking relay is getting past it's best?
-
Hmm, something's dragging a lot of juice or the relay has a high'ish resistance. Mind you the motor should still go at 9.6V, not very well but should still go. The easiest thing, as you suggested, is to get one from the Pink Peril with his famous 30sec guarantee :y

Just wondering who this dodgey Pink Peril is? ::)
