Title: Thanks Marks_DTM and Matchless
Post by: TheBoy on 03 February 2007, 20:30:37
Thanks for your time and help in changing rear springs. Made a huge difference, more planted in corners (fast and slow), and even more stable at speed in a straight line.

Top job :y

Well not exactly...

Things were obviously going too well, so Matchless had to point out that my rear shocks were past there best  :'(, but then it has done 138k, so mustn't complain :)

Any ideas on the cost of seal & diff oil?

If you get the nod, i'll drag my 2.2 up as well. (if thats ok Mark  ;)) Think Jaime expressed a slight interest in replacing the oil in his too....

Remember, don't see a sorebones, and that a bit of pain never hurt anyone....

Although I'm sure you'll be fine in a couple of weeks if you rest, next time mechanically inept people (ie me) come round, you should simply be the gaffer, and leave the crawling to those who own the car?  I'm sure in most cases, certainly mine, that its not an inability to do the job, more a confidence/guidance thing....?

When I had my MOT at the Vx Dealer, he reported pinion seal.

It looked wetter on the offside of the diff to me.

Don't frighten me Mark :(

Yeah, but ive got an output seal in stock and we get to practice on someone elses car before we do our own.
We will need the big crowbar and the mighty Thor on this one.

Mark, Matchless....would it help if I brought it over tonight, for you to have a look at?

You could then diagnose what was wrong and what parts are needed.

Bo Bo, you can do rocker gaskets and breathers, trust me ;).  Passenger side ideally needs another pair of hands to hold bits out of way...
