Is it Mike Dundee's ?. I am planning to come over for Sat/Sun. If you want, give me details and I can go to Autovaux or agents or what ever.

Iz this all sorted now???? :-/
-
Dundee's brakes all sorted now. The mess that the brake fluid made down the side of the car, that will take more work :'(
-
Yeah all sorted now, thanks to TB, MarkDTM, and all the other folk that lent a hand, including Rob for bringing the calipers up on Saturday morning.
We had to bin the pads from Rob's calipers, after he left I took it for a test drive and came back and the rear brake was smoking badly, thankfully managed to get a set of pads in York, so off they came again and done both rear brake pads, and Mark was able to sort the existing caliper, and the main problem was I have the wrong discs on the rear, i.e. not vented, I'll be checking my receipts shortly >:(

Took 3 hours to hit London then another hour getting through London, am also very impressed with the fuel consumption, which has improved considerably, left with half a tank of fuel, done almost 220 miles and range is showing 68 mile range left :y

on the rare occasions my CID was working on the way home, it was displaying a 500+ range, despite having only about 1/3rd of tank.... ....i wonder why....

Probably the same reason mine gave under 20 despite driving like miss daisy . . . . :-[

It's a very frugal Scottish one. ;D
-
Yep, just to close this one dwon.
The route cause was that un-vented rear discs had been fitted to a setup with calipers designed for a vented unit.
The vented discs are considerably fatter (6+mm) and this extra meat is all on the outer face of the disc.
The result is that the inner pad works fine but the outer pad now has an extra 6mm to travel which, as the pad wears, means the outer piston pops out of its bore and the result is a big loss of brake fluid.
-
And thanks to everybody for the help and support in sorting this one out!

And break failure...? break me. Did the seals stop the piston going back in?
-
Nope, fortunately the seals were not damaged so once the caliper was off it was easy enough to sort out.
The brakes did take quite a bit of bleeding though!
-
sorry to keep on but im wondering...
Do we have 2 depths of caliper to account for this, i thought all calipers where all the same?

Nope, different calipers have a different number stamped on them.
