Title: Washin Machines ?????
Post by: Tina on 06 February 2007, 23:04:37
Im begining to think there's a resemblance with me & washin machines,
and Omega's & sensors  :-/

In less than 5 years . . .  well lets just say we bought a new one in Dec 06. (no4)
Got a nice washer dryer in the garage that needs a part.... (so i always have a spare washer)

And Mick noticed tonight its making a funny noise (its not 3 months old yet  :-[ )
I blame the water.

I admit i like washing & i take the clothes off mick, just so i have some!!
does anyone else have a problem with washin machines ?????

Im thinking am a Jinx  :-?

We got a new washing machine a couple of months ago, and had an electrician (who knew nothing about washing machines…) install it for us. It made horrific noises from day 1, on closer examination it turned-out that he never removed the three bolts locking the drum in transit, and they sheered inside…

I called up the supplier, told them the truth, but also pointed out that there was nothing on the back of the machines to indicate that these bolts needed to be removed (though it did say so in the instructions leaflet).

My point was that something as important as this should be clearly labelled in bright colour on the back panel e.g. REMOVE BEFORE OPEARTING MACHINE etc. I must say they were very good about it and supplied a new machine straightaway, this time I took the bolts off myself…

I have a problem with any by the hotpoint chain!

Since getting a miele, no problems :)

bit dear mind, but did get it with a 10 year parts and labour guarantee included, so not bad when you consider no bills for 10 years!

I have a problem with my wife and daughter using the washing machine. They cram and I mean CRAM everything into it and wonder why it makes such a noise and chases them around the kitchen when they turn it on. They cannot get there heads around a 10lb load if theres space in the drum they will fill it ::)

Underwires from bras is another favorite to get between the inner and outer drums and make a noise ;)

Technician please........Very few will have any form of engineering qualification....

Not surprised the Dyson ate socks.....counter-rotating drum assemblies never did look like a good engineering solution without getting the odd bit of clothing damage....!!!

Bra under wire would be my bet......try looking through the holes in the drum witha  torch to see if anything is stuck.....

I did A Level Engineering Design, does that count  ::)

I'm surprised anything made by Dyson has lasted long enough to damage anything...

tina it may be something rattling around in the pump they can make a similar sound sometimes. if its a customer serviceable filter check it out, give it a clean and see whats in there.
sometimes a screw, pin, lolly stick etc can stop the pump or make it noisy.

Hmm this is funny - firstly I like Sony stuff and you don't now the same with Dysons.

Is it time to change from Omegas? ;D

Alas, I am unfortunate enough to a Dyson hoover.  It works OK-ish, but is unreliable, and plastic always breaking...  ...its a reasonable design poorly implemented, and I think anyone who has owned an overpriced Dyson for more than a couple of years will agree?

You mean a Dyson Vaccum...that thing with the great marketing.....and not so good operation....

It always makes me chuckle when people say.....look how much its picked up.....yes granted but, when was the last time you had a hoover where you could see what you had vaccumed up?

The electrolux one is better by the way.....

I think why new Dyson owners (me included) think/thought their machines are/were so good is because we had the pull along type vacuum before.  Uprights are better due to carpet beaters than pure suction of pull along types, and probably more noticable to pet owners.

Dysons are good but have their flaws

Power heads clog easily and need a strip and rebuild every couple of months.

Cyclones clog up and are difficult to clean or newer cleaners

Washing machine washes well - present for Sue from her mum :P

In a TV program about Dyson, it turned-out that Dyson actually went to Hoover with his invention after patenting it but they dismissed it as ‘it will never work’. A Hoover spokesman on the program still dismissed Dyson saying that the vacuum cleaners with the bag are better, but when asked by the researcher if they don’t regret turning Dyson away, the Hoover guy seemed thoughtful and then admitted that they should have bought the patent and shelved it…

I think the dyson vac is great.

Got the ball one DC15 animal & brings car mats n boot liners up a treat  ::)

Not noticed the washer making a noise, had my head in total vauxhall mag  ::)

Glad the Dyson works well for you :)

Hose has gone on ours. Do I spend £15 - £20 for new hose, or £39 for a new bagless cyclone upright vac from tesco?  The mains lead has been repaired yet again as well...
