Title: Brake-wear sensor
Post by: Nickbat on 13 May 2009, 22:49:26
Got some Vx brake pads a few months back and, when I got the tyres done today, I saw the pads were a bit low. Anyhow, the guy said he'd stick them on for £20, so I took him up on the offer.

The brake sensor fell apart when he took the old pads out (there's only one sensor on the N/S). He thought there would be a new sensor in the box, but clearly he doesn't know Vx too well! Anyhow, he cable-tied the lead and the job was a good 'un. :y

My question is: should I bother to get a replacement sensor. I know when the pads are changed and I know when they're wearing down. So what's the point?  :-/

Personally, I would change it but its upto you, ultimately....

I only have a basic 2 litre GLS, which doesn't have sensors. I don't find it a problem.
Then again, are you a believer in the saying "If it's on then it must work"?
Personally I wouldn't bother......

If it hasn't brought the check brake on, on the dash computer and you check them regularly then as H21 says, up to you :-/.

I changed mine. I wont risk damaging the discs just because the brake pads are too thin. Did that on my Astra before, so, NO! thank you!

If i were you, i would surely change the thing  :y
