This is not a joke!! OR PERHAPS IT IS A SICK ONE!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
I have just received this e-mail from a friend who in turn has passed it on as a serious warning to all women, that men should be aware of as well to protect their female loved ones:
"Dear Friends:
I know not all of you are women that I am sending this to, but am hoping you will share this with your wives, daughters, mothers, sisters, etc. Our world seems to be getting crazier by the day. Pipe bombs in mail boxes and sickos in parking lots with perfume. Be careful. I was approached yesterday afternoon around 5:30 PM in the ASDA carpark by two males asking what kind of perfume I was wearing. Then they asked if I'd like to sample some fabulous scent they were willing to sell me at very reasonable rate. I probably would have agreed had I not received an e-mail warning of a 'Wanna smell this neat perfume?' scam.
The men continued to stand between parked cars, I guess to wait for someone else to hit on. I stopped a lady going towards them, pointing at them, and told her about how I was sent an e-mail at work about someone walking up to you at the malls or in carparks and asking you to SNIFF PERFUME that they are selling at a cheap price or at least compare to which one you like best.
THIS IS NOT PERFUME...IT IS ETHER!
When you sniff it, you'll pass out. They'll take your wallet, your valuables a nd heaven knows what else. If it were not for this e-mail, I probably would have sniffed the 'perfume', but thanks to the generosity of an e-mailing friend, I was spared whatever might have happened to me. I wanted to do the same for you.
_____________________________________________________
PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO ALL YOUR WOMEN FRIENDS, AND PLEASE BE ALERT AND BE AWARE. IF YOU ARE A MAN AND RECEIVE THIS, PASS IT ON TO YOUR WOMEN FRIENDS.
Ladies, this happened to me yesterday and I didn't smell the perfume either, thanks to this email. This is true. Believe me, I know. I was over by Big Lots in the carpark at lunch time when I was approached.
So either day or night, it does not matter. There were 3 guys together when I was approached. I called the police.
Like the email says above, LET EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS - YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, CO-WORKERS, whomever. It helped me. The first thing that popped into my head was this e-mail warning.
:exclamation :exclamation :exclamation :exclamation :exclamation
DO NOT SEND THIS "HARVEST E-MAIL" ON PLEASE!!!

I should think its the e-mail thats the real scam!

Why and how? ::) ::) ::)

This has been doing the rounds with several different substances named, some you inhale and some you absorb through the skin like burundanga (even some purporting to be from the local police!). All have been debunked.
BTW -- it takes more than a casual sniff of ether to black out.

Well I took as face value from a friend, which in turn came from a college lecturer. ;) ;)
For what purpose would it be a scam? Nothing is lost though one way or another and if it stops someone having a problem so be it! 8-) 8-)

Ok HC I have been duped, but I believe my friend acted in good faith! :-[ :-[ :-[
However, can someone explain how any advantage is gained by this e-mail? A scam usualy involves money or confidential details, so what is in this one?? ::) ::)
-
With the way things are, I wouldn't be surprised if someone saw this email and decided to try it >:(

Much the same as virus spreaders I guess -- no real reason other than to disrupt the lives of others
-
I think it's fair to pass it on --- the message to make lone females at least more aware of their surroundings can only be good ..... I see so many young girls wandering around, plugged into their ipods or on their mobiles, totally oblivious to what is happening around them and advertising "Potential Victim Here!"

Its like a chain letter. anything that says 'Send this to all your family & friends, evryeone you know ect' should be dumped and not passed on :y

It's to harvest email addresses, those who forward it on to everyone in their address book then allow the lists to grow, eventually it finds it's way back to someone who now has a list of people who will forward out anything that looks half plausable.
The next stage is to send a Virus or Worm or other such nasty out with some simillar bogus email (missing 4 year old / virus warning / etc)........
-
Another point to make is that emails appearing to be from friends are not always what they seem --- the friends mail address could have been hacked, so not sent by the friend at all. Crazy, stupid and mean world we live in :( >:(

Correct, its an email harvester.
That said, its a reminder not to be careless in front of strangers

Anyway I have added to my opening post to this thread HC to reflect now both possibilities!! :D :D ;) ;)

Lizzie check your pc (use virus programms and others ) not that its a trojan or an easyway to get into your system its happend before. that was just a dumb thought that i had as i was reading. might be nothing at all. But still rather safe than sorry.

Thanks all for your comments!! :y :y :y :y :y
I was really duped on this one big time! :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ I am so angry with others and myself for passing it on to this site!! ::) ::) :-[ :-[ :-[ >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
As I have stated in my original starter post at the beginning of this thread
DO NOT PASS THIS "HARVEST E-MAIL" ON PLEASE

I have tried this one a few times.
You have to get the women to sniff it for a good 15 seonds before it has any affect :y
-
I heard the opening line several years ago, it's a hoax along with all the rest of them.
Just because a college lecturer sent it to you, don't take it as gospel.....those sort are the type who would buy the bridge I have for sale.

Thanks Dave my systems F-Security protection has now warned me that this was a scam / scanning attempt, but only when I attempted to let the person who sent me the e-mail know of the bogus nature of this communication! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Relax Lizzie....the e-mail contains nothing in the way of a threat to system security.....it is the e-mail itself that is designed to cause the problem by sucking up bandwidth when people forward it on.

PS
All I can say is I am so glad I was brought up (dragged up as far as some "up their ar$e" people are concerned) on the streets of South London.
No you are right there!! ::) ::) :D :D ;)
Actually this lecturer I know very well and he is no push over and no-one;s fool, voicing a very direct opinion when necessary, and one I see at uni undertaking post graduate studies. I reckon he believed he was protecting a number of women, including me, who he lectured on Psychology and Politics. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

While I will quite happily believe that he thought he was doing some kind of service and good toward others, I can guarantee that I would take someone like him and have him doing what I want in under 5 minutes flat, while he tells the world what a nice bloke I am.

Only the deluded fall for that crap.
@ the guys....
The plastic bimbo who can't work out how much change to give you from £10 (unless the till tells her) isn't interested in what you once thought was a pubic hair until you pi$$ed out of it.
All she is interested in is "Wayne" who owns a fu*ked Vaxhall Nova that comes complete with an exhaust pipe the size of France, while also having at least 4 other kids (all with different mothers) that you (the taxpayer) foots the bill for.
