went on to google & typed in " diesel injector cleaner " hoping i,d find a link to suggest which products best. i saw a link leading to a guy say ing that he he uses paraffin . that then led me to a alpha romeo forum & upon reading the posts it seems loads use it, a cupfull to a tank every 3k miles incidentally the guy is a lab tech :-/ :-/ :-/

Iknow they used to use it years ago degrease the engine components, but not heard of putting it in your tank. :-?
-
yes just tried it again -googled " which injector cleaner" and saw a link for home-made cleaner. alfa romeo forum. i,ll try it anyway. :y

I do not understand this one! ::) ::)
With every gallon of fuel the engine burns it produces some pretty horrible by products like sulphuric acid and paraffin. Admittedly once the engine is at full temperature most of these nasties are (hopefully) burnt off, but the engine inevitabitily receives a steady dose of paraffin anyway, so why add to it? ::) ::) ;)

all i was trying to do was find out the best injector cleaner to use and stumbled across the paraffin job :) :)

Yes I understand that and it is an interesting one. :D :D :y I would certainly recommend a standard injector cleaner from Halfords! 8-) 8-) ;)

Diesel Magic is the stuff I used to use in my tractor - only neat and in fuel filter.
I used to use Diesel Redex in tank if I was using Supermarket crappy fuel.
Both have OKish discounts from Halfords if you have a Halfords Tradecard

lol it does have some merits actually,
I know of a guy who has only run his Omega td on used hydraulic oil that he mixes with parafin to get the same drop rate as diesel, and so far he has done 83k on it with the only difficulty being it takes 3 goes of glow plugs to get it to fre on a cold winters morning ;D but he gets the hydro oil free so he isnt to bothered!!
in point of fact kerosene would be better but its virtually the same stuff ,
small quantity of lpg also allows the fuel efficiency to rocket cleaner better burn and more power and economy!! :y

Avgas is 100 octane leaded petrol for piston engines. Kerosene is known as Avtur and Jet-A1 IIRC.

Personally, I'd be concerned about the lubricity implications, though it doesn't seem to have caused any problems for the injection equipment. So far, that is!
Lubricity - what d'ya think?
