sat in the front room watching tv
got the kids to bed nice and quiet
till i herd a pop and a hsssssss sound
i thought the washing machine had broke as that was on
but as i went into the kitchen water was gushing from under the cupboard
i turned the stop tap that is at the back of the cupboard and it still gushed out
i called the council and they said 3 hours :o
i called the water board and they wanted £53 plus the vat just to turn the water off :o
the council finaly turned up and ripped the kitchen apart to get to the pipe that had burst and took it out and changed the pipe and went
left me in a right mess to clean up

I know what disaster is that flooding..Many years ago when I was in fathers home, they cut the waters irregularly and open it at midnight ..I remember how many times I wake up in water and try to clean home with sleepy eyes.. :(

If they damaged it, then they replace it, end of story. Tossers.

You should be able to shut it off outside your drive/gate , If you recall i had similar not a massive leak but a leak & they had tarmaced over the stop tap so just put a pick through rough area that it was found it after a couple of goes they came & sorted that later but I managed to then sort out my leak in the house ! :y

ive looked at the bottom of my drive and all around my drive and couldn't find anything
there is a water tap cover in my back garden but when i opened it up it was full of soil and worms
-
in my old estate the water taps were in one central point they had a big drain cover over them but the drain had water cut off or summat stamped on it
also had water meters in it too
a water key can be obtained from B&Q for £13 very useful!

been in a similar situation - but I dug the soil & worms out with hands and eventually I got to a stop-cock. kept removing the earth around it and eventually managed to turn it off.
