some knocking will correct that problem ..And I dont think it will effect the car badly..

good point and a new tow bar will also add to the strength

I dont want to piss on your parade Nick, but you haven't actually got the £1000 have you? People promise all sorts in the heat of the moment but very seldom follow it up.

towbars must be connected to the strongest points in the car theoritically.. thinking of its shape the other car must be damaged more..

for £1000 you could buy a retail spec MV6 3.0 manual! not my'n as i love it too much but they sell for near that
Elites are the same auctions would get you a credit crunch bargain as omegas do not bode well down the auctions obviously you want to find a good one with FSH but ive seen a CD 4pot not even sell at auction!
V6s go for around £500 even less if theyre in a state
get a mini facelift though atleast Xenons !

she offered me the cash there and then but i thought it was not legal and didnt want my insurance canceled afterwards
so i spoke to my insurance and they said it was fine

I cant believe what I'm reading here. Like I said, you haven't got £1000, yet. And you cant just 'knock a car' back into shape. It's a professional job and if the structural integrity of the vehicle is compromised you'll be putting yourself and your family in danger.
Pics of the damage might make me laugh help.

sometimes easier than you might think :)
but really pictures can help, agreed..
my point is that this part originally is designed to carry a very high load..which may/may not help in this case..

check the rear door gaps, measure the distance from the front wheel to the rear wheels in both sides..and some measurements in diagonal style from edge to edge will give more idea about damage..but I dont think yours will be that bad..
