I am travelling from my house in Cheshire to North Uist by car tonight. Now the AA route planner is saying 10 hours drive to do the 470 miles to the ferry at Uig on Skye and the TomTom is saying 8 hours which is a big difference. I will be setting off at 11 tonight so there wont be much traffic and I recon I will be in Glasgow by 1.30. So does anyone have any ideas how long from Glasgow to Uig?

Probably around 4 - 5 hours. I've never driven it but it won't be anything less than 4.
Your worst enemy is going to be the weather. Conditions travelling north last night were atrocious, but hopefully with you coming up the west coast it won't be so bad.
Markie is probably the best to give you an estimate of travelling time, though.

i presume up to glasgow.......past loch lomand - crainlarch - towards Fort William passing Kyle of Localsh and over Skye Bridge etc?
I have done it in 3.5 but that was in day light and in summer ( dry roads)
Id leave 5-6 hours.....weather in Glasgow is wet (no snow) but usure of further up the route.
Oh and its not nice driving that road in the dark. No lights anywhere and its more black than dark :-/

Im going to leave home about 11 to get to Uig for 9 in the morning which gives me 10 hours so I will have time to stop and have a little snooze if need be :y
