where the outside temp sensor is located?
My Dad saved the day with the blower fan that had packed up :y
He used to be a lecturer in electrical engineering before he retired......i dropped it off to him last weekend broken and dead as a dodo.....picked up a working blower fan today :y
He'd stripped it apart, cleaned the very back commutator.....so you can see the copper again and rubbed the pitted brushes down using sandpaper (apparently, he tells me, you shouldnt use emery paper doing this job as it conducts electricity where as sandpaper doesnt)
And bingo its working again.....ta dad :y
Got it all back together.....and now another prob :(
Unless you set the temp on HI it blows cold on all other temp settings ..... the outside air temp is reading -38C :o Its not that cold so i guess the sensor is knackered.....but im a bit confused, surely if the climate does think the outside is -38C then i would have thought setting the climate at 22C would have produced lovely warm air......but it doesnt :(
I'll change the sensor.....but i have to find it first.....i am guessing its behind the front bumper somewhere :-/ But im not looking for it today.....as the ground is wet.....been raining here on and off most of the day. But if anyone knows for certain where it is.....that would be great :y

Would help if you gave us a clue, like the model and year, but hey we like a challenge ;)
I think you'll find it poking out under the front of the car roughly below the passenger side headlight.
Now if it's anything like a BMW then after you have disconnected the outside air temperature sensor and turned the ignition on you'll get a super low temperature reading. Even if you reconnect the sensor it still reads low. The reason is that the ECU shows a moving average and when the sensor was disconnected the ECU sees some VERY low readings.
On a BM I think it can take overnight for the temp sensor to start behaving normally.

Sorry :-[ Its a C220 CDI, 2000 model ..... ive just been searching on Merc forums.....so far its behind the number plate bracket....behind the bumper drivers side.....replacing it doesnt usually fix it.....its a fault with the climate panel.....beginning to wish i hadnt done a search now :-?

Try this TD. Wet the end of your finger, stick it out the window while moving, and if its -38C, you'll soon rather know about it :y ;D
