Title: Ronnie hunt
Post by: Ronald_McBurger on 09 February 2007, 23:03:57
I am on the hunt for two things guys and gals....

1. I am looking for a project 2007/2. Must be an Omega in need of a LOT opf work - preferably crashed as well. MUSt be silly cheap and worth silly lots when done.

2. I am actievly looking for a replacement for my little corsa. Ideal choices are either a 2005 or 2006 Focus 1.8 TDci, preferably Zetec spec or Ghia. Other choice is a 2005 or 2006 Fiesta 1.4 TDci Ghia.

Cash available for either at the right price.

Anyone with a good genuine car around, let me know. Oh, maximum mileage 15k. Will pay up to £9k cash for Focus or £6k cash for fiesta. Will apy up to £30 for the Omega at a push.

Is he serious?  Is this a Ronnie wind up?  At this stage, it's hard to tell.  We just don't know.
But whatever the truth is, I'm sure it'll be a roller-coaster trip through looney land!

Glad you're back Ron!

Thanks for that Angela. No, I am actually serious on both parts. Maybe not so serious with the Omega price - I don't normally splash out that much on them, but what the heck, lets throw caution to the wind and up the ante to £50.

Believe it or not, I am thinking about it! Not to repair though - even though it is nothing like as bad as it looks, but just too low spec and too old to make anything really decent at the end. But parts! Engine, MANUAL box and flywheel? Just those bits are worth about £300 if the engine is any good.

Category B means parts only, and you ahve to be a igstered breaker - which I am not. PLUS that £50 is only the start price! Bloomin cheek!

My LPG donor car has got a manual box, I would let that car go for £50 once the LPG is removed!  ;D

That would be worth getting just for the number plate if transferrable and genuine.

Nigh on impossible to stall, so not really teaching them true clutch control.

Of course :)

I learned to drive in a manual Fiesta 1.25 Zetec about 6 years ago now.
On the day I took my test, my instructor changed his car for a diesel! I had never driven a diesel before, and now I had to take my test in one!!

Thankfully I found it easy, and passed with flying colours, even though I did mess up the emergency stop! (I don't think he wanted me to throw him through the screen ;) )

I've driven so many cars since then,

Most include manuals, and I'm confident that my clutch control is very good, but for the last couple of years I have gone for Auto's.

This is mainly because, (honestly..)

I'm lazy ;D

I also prefer being able to keep two hands on the steering wheel under certiain conditions.

I think an Auto box goes better with the luxury car.

At the end of the day, I ahve to keep costs down or put prices up. Diesel corsa? 50+mpg. Petrol 35mpg.

When you are doing 30k plus a year driving, that adds up!!!

Found a car for you, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/omega-2-5-v6-lpg_W0QQitemZ230087156377QQihZ013QQcategoryZ10404QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem . Sounds like  blocked breathers, so a quick clean out, some chewing gum under the rocker covers and there you go! ;D ;D ;D

I looked at that car

It is being constantly re-listed

It's a non-runner

I think it's not what it's cracked up to be.

And no, I definately don't want it!

Just a quick note on Fiesta tdci its a Peugeot lump not bad for power for its size but its a bit rattly/noisy prone to fuel leaks from bleed off pipe and hand fuel pump/bladder (ford modified the pipes as they come as a complete pipe assembly) , check for fuel leaks down the back of engine and no oil leaks as inlet manifold and cam cover are same plastic part almost whole top of engine using rubber gasket not a nice job to replace especially 2 bolts on back of cyl head.lot crammed into a small engine bay
If your looking for economy and like the fiesta (must confess of all small cars out there i think its the best) try out the 1250 zetec good power loves revs and pretty good on juice and handles well, not so nose heavy as deisel. ;) :y
