Before, with directline, I paid £50 a month there abouts for my insurance on the 2.5V6 omega. This was 3rd party, fire and theft.
When I enquired about insuring the new 2.0 GLS, they told me it would be slightly cheaper, but only by a couple of pounds a month. I was expecting more of a drop, but never mind I thought. So I ask how much more for fully comprehensive insurance. £8 a month more I was told, for the singing and dancing policy with all the bells and whistles.
Ok I thought, never been fully comp, got a nice car now, lets do it.
Then she asks if I've got breakdown cover. Umm.. no! But I really should take it, as I'm often on the motorway network during the dead of night!! So I take out their top level breakdown cover, again with all the bells and whistles, eg accomodation, all onwards travel, recovery anywhere, homestart... blah...
All in all, my policy is now £70 a month, for the best of everything.
Is this reasonable, given that I'm 23? I've got 3 yrs NCD, and one fault accident against me in 2005 (even though it clearly wasn't my fault :( )

Also, shall I tell them when I fit the leather interior, CD changer, Heated seats, cruise etc from the CDX?

How much extra a month was the breakdown cover....

I pay £43 a year for RAC roadside cover, that works out at £3.58 a month but that is basic cover. They will tow me home if I am dead on the side of a road, but no cover when on the driveway at home!
I pay £42.50 a month for fully comp insurance on my 2.2.
I pay £31.25 a month for tpft insurance on the 24v Senator
Both with direct line and 5 years NCB on each policy :D

What exactly do you think a recovery company can do to a modern car at the side of the road these days.....that you cant!
Same applies to your drive way...

So how much is your actual annual policy now and how much was it on the V6? That's the best way to work out the increase, as monthly charges aren't a true representation due to the interest charges.
I've never seen the point in going fully comp on an old car, by the time you've paid the excess and have to suffer increased insurance premiums for the next 5 years, it would've been cheaper to buy another car instead.

seems a bit dear to me compared to my £34 per month for the mv6...but then i am old (32) :-/
