Title: Sad tidings
Post by: Seth on 06 June 2009, 10:17:00
What a year so far .......
The latest bombshell has been the death of my 78 year-old mother after a very long illness.
She'd been in a care home for some time cruelly suffering from dementia, but at least she passed away peacefully. She'll be laid to rest in a few days time - brother and I, plus sons-in-law, will be poll-bearers as requested - a fitting end to a good life.
God bless her.

My sincerest sympathies, Sethsmate.

Even after long illness the passing of a dear loved one still stings, whether or not that passing is seen as being best for the person concerned, those who remain must carry the grief from that point forward.

There can be no better love shown than to be with our loved ones at the time of passing, and no better tribute shown than to bear their weight on the journey to their place of rest.

Remembering you in prayer.

So sad to hear of your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family :'( :'(.

You say your mother had a good life, so that is always a great thought at times like this knowing this fact and that she has moved on to a far better place. :-* :-*

Sympathies from me too Sethsmate.  Been there last year although my Dad was older.

Dementia seems worse for the family/carers than for the patient.  It possibly makes the blow softer but I'm not at all sure on that.

I pray that you will find support while you grieve and that you'll be able to retain the happy memories for the future.

Chris

Deepest sympathies --- now in a happier place.

I posted this a while back, found it a greqt comfort when my mum passed:

Death is nothing at all

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you,
whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone,
wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow,
laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Pray smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort,
without the trace of a shadow in it.
Life means all that it ever meant,
it is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity,
why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you
somewhere very near
just around the corner.
All is well.
