Title: Tomorrow's papers
Post by: Nickbat on 06 June 2009, 23:07:09
Full of new revelations. How can Brown survive all this?

First Secretary of State and Lord President of the Council, the Baron Mandelson, of Foy in the county of Herefordshire and Hartlepool in the county of Durham (aka, the next PM) penned a devastating critique of Gordon Brown’s character, labelling him “insecure”, “self-conscious” and “angry”, according to leaked e-mails..

By ignoring it. He seems to honestly believe that he is the only person who can "lead the country through this" so he shoves his head in the sand and assumes it'll all go away.

Fact of the matter is, nobody is leading the country through anything because the govertnment is finished.

I didn't know a member of the House of Lords could still be the PM. Wouldn't he have to give up his peerage as "Lords" are not allowed into The House of Westminster?

I just re-checked Mandy's official title (as at 2008) and it is indeed "Baron Mandelson of Foy in the county of Herefordshire and Hartlepool in the county of Durham".

Had a quick look, can't see where it says that.  However, Hartlepool, is a Unitary Authority, as is Stockton, Middlesborough and Redcar, who were all formally known as Cleveland, and prior to that Teesside. However in the olden days Stockton and Hartlepool were part of Durham and Middlesbrough, Yarm (part of Stockton, but south of the Tees) and Redcar were in North Yorkshire.  People of Yarm still argue they still should be.

First line in the link.

I can't get my head round these Unitary Authorities. What happened to Flintshire? Doesit still exist?

Correct Kevin and because the majority on the front bench are gutless self-seeking incompetents, he will continue to do so.

Nor have they been for some considerable time.  The result has been a country left to fester from an open wound from which there with be no immediate recovery.

They have destroyed the credibility of government and of the official cadre, a tawdry, useless, partisan, totalitarian, manipulative, slimy and utterly unpleasant legislature if ever there was one.

Did you see him this morning Lance on the BBC's Andrew Marr programme this morning?  Talk about an animal in a trap fighting for it's, and Gordon Brown's life!  Even disputed / strongly argued with Andrew Marr (insults included) that MP's, especially the female ones, had left the Cabinet due to GB's style and content of leadership :o :o :o

Mandelson's certainly nailed his flag to the mast! ::) ::) ::)

Have not read the link but must point out that

Hartlepool is NOT in the county of Durham....... Thumbs Up! just don't mention 'Monkeys' if you ever visit.

I copied and pasted that bit (  :-[ ). I bow to your superior knowledge of the area. My geographical knowledge gets hazy just North of Milton Keynes.  :P ;)

Monkeys?  :-? :-?

this might shed some light on the infamous "monkey trial" - hence the term "monkey-hangers" as an insult to the good people of Hartlepool - Nickbat - apparently true story  :y

.....the only monkeys which spring readily to mind wore red berets and were universally hated to a man ;) ;)

just noticed i forgot to post the link!!! so that made no sense whatsoever to anyone - ooops

for the first time you've lost me Zulu - red berets? monkeys?? i bow to your superior knowledge - now please enlighten me if you'd be so kind, sir :o :y :y

.....military police officers were referred to as (quite inappropriately of course)  monkeys, bannjaxx

aaah - i've got you - cheers  :y
