If we get it in one Bertie, then it's obviously a very common occurence. Calm down mate (easy to say) and work it out when you get round to it. You are still grieving and will be for some time.
-
Take a hot shower and try sleep..
and decide the next day what to do..
I try not to decide when I'm angry.. else I always make mistakes and pay for it :-/
-
Already bust my knuckles on my right hand on my brothers jaw....
-
you need to try and carm down mate
its hard times at the moment and i'm guessing that the 2 certain family members are using this time to try and get what they want
try not to let them get to you mate dont get yourself into any trouble
-
Are there any members of your family you CAN talk to without causing a split?
Sorry you're having a crap time.
I buried my dad last year and it's tough I know. That's with my family all united!
-
My commiserations mate.
The others are right though - tomorrow you will be more able to give rational thought to how you want to proceed. You may still reach the same conclusion but at least it will be in cold anger rather than hot fury.
-
no its only me and my step/brother......I know what we have to do regards banks, bills and other stuff but they are rushing at it and want it done in 1 day!!! it dont work that way i know....I`m still sorting debts and stuff out with my mum who died 5 months prior and i could do without this.... :'(

You cant do it in one day, it will take months.
You will need probate.
I would give him a well deserved good send off and do nothing with respect to the estate until a few weeks after.

Bertie please step back a bit, when a situation like this crops up it's often difficult to see reason because of the red mist.
I can assure you Bertie that you're of much more use to your loved ones by remaining focused on their immediate needs rather than opening yourself to a situation where you may be unable to help because you took inappropriate and ill-advised action.
If I can be of any help whatever please PM me

do you have to goto probate? we have a will and an unregistered power of attorney... but i also have to sort dads mortage out and debts as well that will take time and patience that will prevail and thats exactly what i will do...no more incredible hulk improvs.... ;D ;D ;D ;D

That's the way to do it Bertie, calmly and deliberately, you'll get it sorted out in the end :y

Yes, if there is more than 5K of assets then probate must be sought in order to liquidate his assets.
-
Hmmm need to add that to the list as well then.... thanx for that mark
-
Its not an easy time for you mate but, there are a few key things you need to sort and other more complicated ones than can wait.
This page on the help the aged site is very good
The likes of the council (particularly if a council owned house) must be notified early or they will charge rent.
-
It does take ages mate and a load of heart ache, I had to help my Nanna when my Grandad died I could not believe the amount of trouble to get my Grandads money transfered over to my Nanna :(
It is bloody typical that when someone passes away the grabbers come out of the woodwork >:(
At my Grandads funeral there were so called family there that have not come to see my Nanna since that is nearly three years ago >:(

Am just trying to cheer you up, if I offend please let me know. I know you are going through a hard time at the moment, but this image sticks in my mind.... ;D ;D ;D

Well Bertie, I thought I was alone, it's my mother's funeral this Friday, and we've got similar family problems to you.
I'm not normally the type to tolerate fools gladly, but my brilliant wife Pamela is a tower of strength, and has instilled some fine values in me over the years, and taught me that there's a time and place for everything. So for the sake of my mother, the 'talking to' will take place well after Friday.
For the moment, it's a time to grieve and to be gentle with each other. Zulu77's wonderful reply to my post has given me the strength to keep going. As he says, there's no greater tribute than to bear my mothers weight on this last journey to her final resting place. Yes, myself, brother, son and son-in-law are poll-bearers as requested. It'll be hard, but her wishes will be honoured. On a happier note, take your time over things, and do it all at your own pace.
When I feel things getting the better of me, I open a bottle of Newcastle Brown, and listen to Jennifer Rush's 'The power of love' at high volume - does me a power of good and puts life into perspective.
Any time mate!
-
Thanx mark thats helped a lot...On the plus side me and my brother are talking again and i`ve calmed down quite a bit but i dont think i`ll ever forgive or forget what 1 cousin has said to me or done and to be honest i dont think i ever want her in my house or presence ever again....I`m off to new cross hospital in a bit cause i think i bust a knuckle or 2 last night(i punched the wall instead of the person!!) plus i gotta get some polly filla now ::) ....I`ve got the medical card and an appointment for 2mora at the civic centre to register the death and then i can start work on the funeral arrangements and getting dads affairs in order..... Now begins the hard graft... :(
-
You're already on the way up Bertie mate!
Take note of my advice regarding ale and Jennifer Rush, and I reckon you'll be okay.
Good luck and get that hand looked at!
