Well we made it back safely. I took him onto a really quiet road for some basics and then onto a quiet but bigger road and kept running between 2 roundabouts.
Considering this is is first time behind the wheel of anything it went very well, and managed to avoid the Kerb by about 1mm at times :o he tends to look at the gear leaver when changing and his right arm does it's own thing ::) ::) Did about 40 minutes, his left leg was shaking towards the end, we had been doing some stopping and starting on a long but gentle hill. So felt it wise to call it a day. He is, rightly, pleased with himself, guess we will be out again tomorrow :y

i remember my first lesson - i was bricking it ;D ;D

My dad toook me out in his brand new Datsun ( as it was then) Violet --- Lord alone knows what possessed him. I was bricking it while he was as cool as the proverbial cucumber. HHe asked me to overtake a coach ----- I wasn't sure I could go in a straight line long enough to get past :o..... we made it though :)

My first lesson was from a C8 driver ( as it was before becoming the CRS ) a further 4 lessons resulted in a pass.
He was a tremendous driver but more importantly a great teacher. I still use his techniques from time to time when driving the Omega, even allowing for the auto shift, which wasn't common at the time:y
Well done Vamps and the pupil :y :y :y

To be honest it was a nightmare to learn to drive in but as it had replaced the old 18/22 series it was perceived - at the time - as a very "modern" car and it was a lot of fun to drive! :y :y
Did you ever have / drive one Zulu?

Indeed Gareth, drove one of the first armoured landcrabs, which was an experience, and afterwards the general issue Princess most of which came in a lovely shade of beige if I recall ( all unmarked) 8-) ::)
I was one of the few who liked the cars and would have still have one to play with, if I could find the excuse to do so :y

The other advantage (because of the shape I assume) was the extra room in the back seat :o :o Very useful ;) ;) Much better than a mini (for a man 6'4") ;D ;D
